Electric door not closing

At the start of lockdown our electric door had a runner problem and to make safe we had to force the door shut and in doing so broke the top sensor. Finally got it to a local garage specialising in vw, Audi, etc. New runner and sensor fitted but will only go 2/3 of way and then keeps springing open. It's been thwarting him at every turn - any ideas to save his sanity and help me have my Cali back, even just to sit in it in my driveway Thanks!
