Hi there
We just hired a Cali for the weekend and used the elec hook up cable the once. Steve commented that it was hard to connect the socket to the van due to the cap which made it difficult to fit. Noted that the other end did not have this cap/cover and wondered why the need for the cover?1570004710492.pngon just the once end?
thanks

The cap helps lock the cable in place. The end without the cap you connect to a socket that has a cap and that locks it in place on the lug. Same when you join 2 together. Try it by plugging the cable into itself and you will see what I mean

Hi, it’s a fundamental safety feature. Pins are exposed and sockets are protected just as is the case with any domestic appliance. Don’t forget always connect your lead to your van first and to the hook up supply last. That is the safest way.

When you lift the black flap on the Cali the blue cap needs to be horizontal'ish to plug the socket into the Cali. The blue cap needs to go into the Cali housing to secure it.
To remove the socket press the little blue lever to release the cap and pull back on socket.

Yes it sounds like you were incorrectly bending the cap back to keep it outside the van socket: whereas it projects horizontally into the socket above the plug part and locks the plug in place.
