If you didn’t think you were using enough adblue...

Thanks @Loz I suspect I won’t be rushing to the dealership give this recall

Mike

£86 compo for increased AdBlue usage? Just how much extra are they expecting it to drink?

I've noticed the burn-off and/or diesel smell worse than ever on idle and I've had a few diesel vehicles, maybe related, I'll ask the question when next in garage

Sounds like it’s the 150bhp engine...
Anyway, good luck getting a slot in the dealership, I phoned my local today for a repair/failure (CC) and got told May 29th earliest they could look at it.
Booked into local VW specialist instead. But also means I won’t be returning to the dealership for any future servicing or repairs going forward.

My Caddy does that..

Yes, had my 204bhp California service last week and when i mentioned the recall i was told it did not effect my van

Is it just California (beach) ? Or the ocean as well ?
Just had service/MOT/roof corrosion campaign. Nothing mentioned about this recall.
Also in no hurry to have done

I got an e-mail from Volkswagen belgium for a recall that needs a 1 hour visit to the dealer.. they mention action 23Z7 , it wil crease adblue consumption and therefor Belgian customers will be allowed to fill up adblue 8 times for free at VW garage.

Still a newbie to this game chaps/chapesses but how should I know when and how much Adblu to put into my T6 204 ?

Tells you on the display. Range left and amount needed to refill. Do not fill to the brim just the amount on display.

Same here in France:

Is it only 150 engines that are getting this recall?

Think that I'd rather use more Adblue than have a potential huge bill for a DPF unit in the future.

These are the key words.
"During the regeneration of the diesel particulate filter, increased nitrogen oxide emissions may occur. The remedy is a software update that takes about an hour in the workshop."

The only reason for more Addblue is more regens and more regens is because more EGR and therefore soot loading.

Im afraid this looks just like the EA189 campaign which I avoided on my passat. Basically worse economy and performance (in passat).

Im certain my 199 is lumbered with this already.

One thing is for sure is VW didnt have a good track record on being honest about the negative impact on the last recall never mind the scandal itself. Rather like a spin doctor the intent is to deceive but legitimise it through word smithing if caught.

@Taff Tenor ours 1st came on when we were on holiday if gives about 1000mile warning if I recall so plenty of miles we just popped into a local helfords and bough a 10 litre bottle.

Got my 204 in the dealer for a service and they just called to say this recall applied to my van.

Has anyone else had their 204 done?

Shall i call back and ask then not to do it or is that even an option?

Likely you will end up with a 199 if you go ahead. Personally I would avoid it if you can.

i wonder, seeing as i ordered mine in may and the info i think said fill up ever 10k km, and now it says to fill up in 5k km, if i would be entitled to the 10 free fill ups too?
