It's arrived!

Wow hope you enjoy your new van, looks great in white.

Maybe the radio will work better with the aerial there.
Unfortunately not. That aerial is for the amount of drivers aid systems on board. Probably the SOS-function.
Radio and GPS antenne will most likely still be in the left and right mirror.

None of the driver aid systems are in that aerial, it’s about the infotainment system.

There are antennae in that bump for primarily for data tech introduced with the new MIB3 infotainment system. It has an eSIM in it, so you can connect your vehicle to your smartphone for various features, including notification if it moves (theft notification option). It also can boost the reception of your mobile phone signal if you go for the wireless charging option. Wireless Apple CarPlay is also covered by it.

Like I said. The SOS-function. It uses GSM antenna.

Just curious, what's your source of information?

I remembered reading about the new roof bump when the T6.1 was announced (Here). Then I’ve followed up VW literature from the German VW website (which has much more info than the UK site, translated using Google translate). Full details fromVW German site below, you can see which options would need enchanced reception:

Discover Media" navigation system.
The system with a 20.3 cm (8-inch) color touch display including proximity sensors, 4x 20 watts of power and six loudspeakers offers hybrid navigation, a selection of various map options, free map updates via the Internet, 32GB media memory, two external USB and a Bluetooth interface, hybrid voice control and Internet radio. The system supports wireless AppConnect, We Connect and We Connect Plus

"Discover Pro" navigation system
In addition to the functions of the "Discover Media" navigation system, the system offers a 23.4 cm (9.2 inch) color touch display including proximity sensors, a simultaneous display of the navigation map on the digital cockpit8) and the Screen of the navigation system, 64GB media memory and DAB +.
Multi-function display "Premium". Displays important driving and vehicle information in 3D and in color.
Voice control. Control numerous telephone, navigation and audio functions via voice.
Mobile phone interface "Comfort" including inductive charging function. Improves reception and wirelessly charges the battery of compatible smartphones

We Connect System (including the info using an App on your phone). comes as standard

I like things like online parking heater controls (if out for a walk then you can start the heater when you’re 15 mins away) and the online theft warning system.

Like I said. The SOS-function. It uses GSM antenna.
My mistake, in your first post you said “That aerial is for the amount of drivers aid systems on board.” and I took that to mean driver systems like lane keep assist.

No offence taken.
The GPs and radio antenna's are probably still in the mirrors. Lane and side assist are in the camera's and behind the bumpers. But all the aerials needed for all the rest, GSM, 3G, 4G, is in the roof now.

I was at Marshall’s Reading today to finalise a few things on our van which we were told today has now been built so hopefully will be ready for the start of March. I had a quick snoop at your van (obviously from the outside) and promise I have not left any smudges on the glass! Looks really nice even in the rain...

So is it today or tomorrow you collect your lovely van?

Congratulations! Great time of life to be doing this with a young family.
What are you going to christen her (?).

Ha! :)Paul did say another customer asked if it was ours. Just about got the face print off the side window :D

Nope, not for us Brits, they've replaced it with a cupholder. Just what we need, three cupholders and nowhere to store your phone!

All collected this morning! Wow. Just wow. It's an incredible bit of kit. We haven't stopped grinning all day. Spent the afternoon camped on the drive learning all about it with the awesome heater running. Turning the seats is err... fun... but now I've done it, next time will be quicker I hope. Really impressed with the new dash and tech. Fitting child seat and gas tomorrow and then taking it for a longer drive somewhere :thumb

Also sorted the 2 year factory extended warranty while there. All straight forward and done on the system. Paul said that this process has been improved and I left with an official vw printed warranty certificate.

So you should have 6 years then? I thought T6.1 are doing 4 years warranty as standard?

Says 5 years total which is what I expected. Haven't seen anything about an extra year for the cali. Where did you see that?

That’s a shame, wireless charging and wireless app connect would be one of the best new features for me in the T6.1...think I read somewhere this was not available until April?

If it does then so be it. Its just a camper van and can be fixed or replaced. So we won't be letting potential issues detract from the joy we'll get using it over the coming years. Life is too short for that nonsense.
I'd originally considered a classic split screen.. I'm pretty sure paint bubbling would have been a standard option on that :happy
Best of luck on your Motorhome adventures and finding an equivalent owners forum to hang out in. :thumb

I like your style, enjoy your van and narrow roads.

Manual shows wireless app connect for iPhone but not for android so needs USB connection. Not sure if that's an android or vw issue. Either way a software update may resolve in the future. Center console USB ports are also usb-c type.

Yay, that’s great. Lucky you.
