My 2017 plate cali just gone into breeze for a squealing aux belt, tensioners been replaced under warrantee, of course there job is to find jobs to keep the shop in work, so what they call a safety check, brings up items such as rear pads, but more disturbing a slight rumbling worn dsg clutch, not that i have noticed so not deamed serious yet.
quote £1800 + vat. At only 33k miles a cost not expected so early.
does anyone recommend a specialist in dorset or Hampshire that may a more palatable service other than main dealer price.
Any advice on this issue?

That doesn't sound like normal wear & tear, any rumbling would be a bearing failure & that shouldn't happen at 33k miles. I would be arguing that it should be a warranty job.

Not heard it yet get it back today, so we will see! Im sure they would prefer to do it under warentee if they could.

Has the DSG been serviced ie, oil change and filter replacement? If not its probably overdue.

I would check your service records and confirm its been done. Not a cheap service. On the Audi S4 it was over £500

Been serviced every year by vw would have thought they would have done under normal timed service
DSG sevice is a stand alone service. I was advised by Breeze Totton that it was due and got it done on that basis so if you don't know about it, I would say it hasn't been done. Good Luck with your pursuit.

DSG service is due about 40k mikes, so the op would not have been informed of the service requirement until 40k by a dealer !

What was the proposed £1800 for ?
what work / parts needed ?

I gather there is both a time or milage recommendation for both DSG and Haldex oil changes.

Just been told maybe covered under warrantee depending on if there are hot spots on fly wheel which denotes been used under heavy towing or using brake and accelerator together which has not! But not bad enough so just monitor for now until device in july.
Also interesting asked about gearbox service as it is the 7 speed these are sealed units and do not require a oil service!

only 6 speed box requires servicing breeze said 7 speed DSG is a sealed unit so no service needed.
Shows you what they know then. I have a 7 speed DSG box that is now 8 yrs old and have had the oil changed 4 times , every 2 yrs. the box has now covered 120,000 miles.

Thats news to me. The only evidence to suggest why the 7 gear DSG doesn't require servicing is that its a dry clutch design.

Are you being told about service or oil change - Breeze (Totton not Poole) has always changed my 7 speed DSG oil at 40k on my current T6 and past T5

I have just had this same query with my VW van centre.
My DSG is a 2019 model and they had to check the VW system (Erwin) with the vehicle VIN to get the correct service arrangement for the DSG as they said some are sealed for life and others require and oil and filter change.
Mine is a 7 speed and the oil and filter has to be changed every 4 years or 40,000 miles whichever comes first.
Suggest a double check with VW centre against vehicle VIN

Mine is 7 speed DSG and been done by Breeze (Totton).....
Sounds like one of us needs to change dealer pending confirmation of your email to VW.

Agree. Mine is now 8yrs old and it will need doing again. If I could get under the thing or had a 2 poster than I would be doing it myself

I will be doing my 10yr Volvo XC70 in the next few weeks. Currently on 85k and doubt it has ever been done. Not recommended to flush with these just drain and fill x3.

I wonder how I managed to do an oil & filter change on my 7 speed DSG a few months ago if sealed???

I have previously read that VW only do the oil not the filter.
Filter is a pig of a job on the 204.
