New T6.1 order delays

Four boats arrived and departed for Sheerness while my van remained at Emden cleared for shipping for 2 weeks. Finally today it is on the Thames Highway about to dock in Sheerness. Nb I'm using Eurovans Crawley but if you are using another dealer there will be ships going to the nearest of Grimsby or Tyne. Keep an eye out for the Malacca Highway, Danube Highway, Ems Highway and Thames Highway. (other vehicle carriers are available).
think our cali is going to tyne. ordered from liverpool.

Just had a call from Eurovans. My Ocean is certainly going to be MY22 now. MY22’s will begin to be allocated confirmed build weeks at the end of next week (10 June).

That’s good to hear, my Ocean ordered 24th December has a provisional build date of week 26, Tow bar option too

This is good to hear, I ordered my Ocean Jan 22nd, and have been purposely been putting it out of my mind..... might be getting somewhere near my own provisional date! :-|

I’ve had 8 provisional build dates I think. Sorry to be a buzzkill but until you get a confirmed build week, expect change...

How do you know all that and that it got on a boat 'today'? Do you rely on VW chat? I feel needy pestering them too often!

Just been told the same from VW chat and purchased ours from VW Liverpool too. How long do they sit at the port awaiting shipping? Ours landed at Emden Yesterday and it's now awaiting a boat.

Build week 20 refusing to come good for us. It's now 3 weeks from the start of week 20. VWC chat told at the beginning of the week that it was still in build. Got the better of me again today, so I thought I'd give them another go. This time, I got the brush off and was told to contact the van centre who are being given access to the latest updates straight from the factory.
Emailed SMG straight away. The reply back tells me that the build process is 3 weeks and not the 2 that I thought. Who knew?

I was resisting asking chat again until the weekend having checked on Tuesday and being told still in build. May have to be the dealer on Monday if they don't give me an update. Disappointing as I thought confirmed build date onwards was the point when the chat info was accurate. Seems a few week 20 oceans completed but not seen any mention of coasts unfortunately.

You're "with towbar" as well, if I remember correctly? A few of those been coming through too eh? So in theory the planets should all be aligned now! We can only hope. Good luck

Yes tow bar too. Just reading the forums facebook group though there's a thread from today saying some week 20 delays due to DSG shortages. First tow bars now gearboxes! They were ocean builds as well so probably just down to luck.

I look at marine traffic.com for movements of known vehicle carriers and when one leaves Emden for Sheerness, get on chat to ask the status of my order. If I didn't ask, I wouldn't know..... so I pester them. (4th time lucky for me). Of course you could take the view that they are paid to answer questions. If we don't ask as many questions, they have less work (=fewer jobs). Of course if I was the CEO, I'd get a simple app to text people when the status changed and cut several jobs while improving customer satisfaction.... but I'm not CEO!

My week 15 build didn't change status till the Thursday of week 20 - ie 6 week build. But only 2 weeks at Emden.......

is your vehicle still at Emden or have you now taken delivery? I am keen to understand how long it takes from being delivered to port of exit. According to VW its been assigned to a boat but not shipping as of yet.

the ship got there at dinner time today. how many days does it take to load ? and then unload ? its about 2 days at sea .

Mine arrived at Sheerness yesterday morning. Now due to be used as a taxi in Margate for 2 weeks before being sent to Eurovans.

I'm not quite sure to be honest, looking at the history of sailings, the boats appear to be docked for roughly a day and then sail again. Somebody will probably chip in regarding this soon I'm sure.

Some of the ships only take 22 hours for the trip. Sometimes they only spend 16 hours at Emden and less time than that unloading. But I’ve seen the Malacca Highway anchor off the German coast for 20 hours or so. (Probably swapping all the Cali leisure batteries with the ships knackered ones.
btw here in the south we have dinner in the evening

Thanks Graham, do they have specific ships that sail to certain ports? My Cali is being shipped to the Port of Tyne according to VW. They don't appear to ship there as often as Sheerness by the looks of it.
I'm not an expert but over the last couple of weeks of being a ship spotter I have found that viewing ships in the various ports on marinetraffic or shipfinder or other site, looking for vehicle carriers and then see where they're going might give you an idea. The Thames/ Ems / Danube / Malacca Highway and other similarly named ships are a good place to start. I did see the Danube Highway leave Emden for Grimsby then Tyne a week or so ago.
Good luck (and keep an eye out for the pirate ships too - they must all have to carry AIS transponders too!)

Im starting to turn into a shipping stalker! It's probably worse now that I know the vehicle is sat waiting at port rather than still in production. Waiting a little longer isn't too much of an issue I suppose.

Just checked chat and got paul he just confirmed the best news for the weekend cleared for shipping to grimsby! Might be worth you trying chat again as clearly depend who you get. Now to brush up on my ship tracking skills :)

This is what VW chat quoted timescale wise to me hoping its quickers than this:-
'It can be at Port for 10 - 15 days and then 2 days shipping. Then another 10-15 days at Grimsby. The Van Centre arrange to get it delivered to them, they then complete a Pre Delivery Inspection and then contact you to arrange a handover date.'

My order is preston so seems a bit strange that it goes to grimsby and liverpool goes to tyne!
