New T6.1 order delays

now i can breath again! Still waiting my update, hopefully i will be around the same time with my order going in the last week in September.
Dodge, who did you order through? Mine's a 17th September order, accepted at factory on 5th October with Listers Worcestershire. They told me with all the back and forth, just check back again in week 8. I just can't leave it alone though!

Sorry just seen, Eurovans Crawley

Yes they don't appear to have " the list" and are waiting on confirmation from the factory which they say they will have hopefully tomorrow.

On a more positive note, Campervanbits confirmed my hot water heater, has arrived early and is already in transit to me. So tomorrow i will have a shower in the garage to test it out. I am rapidly amassing a number of items that i am sure will never actually make in into the van.

Haha. Got the same confirmation of dispatch of the Kampa Geyser today! Just working out the best way to take a hot shower at the back of the van!

Crikey, just realised what you said. It'll be minus something degrees tomorrow. I'm not sure I'd be brave enough!?!?I'll see if my wife wants to try...

Exactly the same story as you. Ordered 8 Oct, 6 provisionals, now 00. VW commercial complaints emailed to say they are calling me tomorrow - I didn’t ask, on Tuesday VW chat asked if that’s what I wanted...
Had the call from VW commercial complaints... who said
"I'm really sorry that Eurovans haven't told you anything, they should be calling you every month. I've got an update from the brand ambassador department for you though. They tell me the government needs to sign off the change from WLTP to RDE and until then they can't build your van"
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, what a fob off load of nonsense. I said why are you delivering any California's then?
"Oh I don't know ... must be an issue with your spec."
...etc and so on and so forth...
Blimey! They must think their customers were born yesterday...

wow, i don't know what to say about that. If the complaints department are now telling a different story what chance do we have.

Come on you blokes, we're in the middle of a pandemic, just relax a bit. People are off sick, social distancing, dare I mention Brexit. VW can't get the certification finalised on all the options. Are you suprised? I think there are more important things to complain about. Chill

Not a 204 but I have an update on my Coast, it's finally finished build after nearly 8 weeks and is now in transit to the port of exit, yay :)

...in defence to all of us stressing about this during a pandemic when worse things are happening.. for me it's the one thing i've been looking forward to during lockdown, tracking progress (or lack of) is a form of escape, which everyone needs at the moment :)

Realise it’s a first world problem, but there are no options to certify. They are delivering California’s, even the 204 is now being built (mines a 150). I’ll chill if they tell me there’s a COVID delay (or any other true problem), but why do they bullshit?
Edit note post #1741... 204 ordered December has an build date. Why not a 150 ordered in October? Perhaps because I didn’t chill!

Email confirmation from Dealer. 204 4Mo Ocean ordered 24/09/20 and accepted 05/10/20. My order was also an ‘overweight’ build amended 04/02/21.

“Your vehicle is No.53 in the plan and due for build in month March and delivered in April.

I’ll take that. No greater precision required, at this point.

Neary cracked a beer on a school night!

Ironically, exactly where I originally wanted it - before the early promise of 31/12/20 and the 199/204 engine uncertainty.

More dealers should be communicating this week and next I’d say. The email is clear and the process of prioritisation by “tagging date” (which I assume is ‘order accepted by factory date’) is confirmed as the way builds are being planned.

Good luck all,

SB

Update on our week 47 order...... finally at Port of Exit and released . Status 38. Getting so close but hoping to stall till March as expected to be another 4 weeks till it reaches van centre !
Footy69 where are you up to with your van ? Is it at the dealers now ?

Awww brilliant, think we were the same build week so that has been about 4 6’weeks behind, but , just in time for some spring trips ! I’m always trying to be optimistic .

Your dealer should have a list from VW telling them when the orders will be built and what position you are in the line.
Hi Tom,

Eurovans Crawley have no knowledge of this list in fact they just provide the same information as the online chat does when providing the update. How we can we point them in the right direction as to how then obtain and provide the correct information in the updates? Obviously this may just be me and something freaky is going on with my order but on the basis of the other allocations people have hadI will be around 90's in respect to order allocation with a March/April build date yet i am nowhere to be seen.

No surprise re: Eurovans

Scratch that Eurovans do indeed have the list that was issued on Monday, however say since Monday the situation has changed completely and the list is now null and void.
Do you know what they are calling this new (now old) 'list'?
Be useful to know when VW commercial call me back on Friday...

VW gave us a list of "Proposed" Build Dates on Monday for a large proportion of our California Customers, however these weren't Confirmed and since then this has all changed!

I think by a "lists" nature, i would suggest the list has been superseded or up-versioned to the next data point? For example my position in the queue was No. 53 based on the order bank as of 27th January 2021. That position has either gone down following some builds in the reporting period or slipped because its all a mess - i favor the former, obviously!

Here is the communication in full (dealer redacted) - this may help everyone affected with their understanding.

We have received the following update from Volkswagen and Yours is number 53 with a build month of March, we don’t currently know when in March but will be with us in April:

The “staycation” culture that has developed in the UK and across Europe since Spring 2020 has significantly increased demand for California models. UK production levels have been increased but we continue to face challenges due to staff absence and component shortages in the supply chain.

Furthermore, some California specific elements are completed by hand in a dedicated factory using a specialist team of engineers; this is one of the many ways in which we ensure high quality and a unique offering. Historically, component installations could be completed simultaneously with multiple team members working together on a vehicle at the same time. In today’s production environment, these processes are required to be completed more sequentially thus increasing the time it takes to complete an individual vehicle.

We continue to explore every opportunity to increase production levels and appreciate that our customers would like to enjoy their new vehicle as soon as possible. To ensure fairness for all customers, we aim to produce each California in order of its customer tagging date. While specific component shortages may mean this is not always possible, any vehicles that do slip in production due to this will receive a special focus and prioritisation once components are available.

For the time being, stock, demonstrator and dealership vehicles (regardless of the sales channel to which they are tagged), will not be produced. We have also withdrawn the model from any staff channels to allow focus on your customers.

To aid customer conversations, because we know that communication is key in any delayed vehicle situation, we have listed your unscheduled (pre SLI SC20) California order-bank as of January 27th 2021. Based on our current production capacity and your orders’ place in the queue, we have applied a planned production month and resulting delivery month to each order. Note that the lead times and production capacity for Ocean, Coast and Beach vary slightly so the build month of each derivative relative to its place in the queue will also vary, and because this is a manual process, the build weeks shown in SLI should be ignored.

Hi SaulB,

I so wish i had received such a note especially as i ordered and had had it accepted only one day different from you. Regrettably i remain in the Week 24 ( from chat) or the no build week assigned ( from dealer) category. As we have basically have ordered the same thing in this lottery of life today i am not the winner.

Perhaps tomorrow i will be.

Very helpful thanks for posting.

I've been told by my dealer today that my 204 4-Mo is going into production next week. I ordered early Sept, so I'm assuming that I didn't miss out on the 199 by much and might have been near the top of the 204 "list".

Given the number of random things that people are being told, I'll temper my excitement until it's actually being built :)

Might be worth mentioning that other than the bigger fuel tank, it's pretty much a standard build Ocean.
