+1. I learned from @daveyboydanger also, its easy, it works, saved me £750, dont miss out.
Each dealer gets 12 per year, as standard. Some delays could be that a dealer has over ordered that year and needs to pick from next years order, so build may not be taken from that years allocation.I think the supply and demand arguments works with existing stock, but not (currently) for orders.
My logic? Unless we establish for sure that each dealer has a limited quota, then each dealer's capacity to supply is as infinite as the number of order pads they have. The fact that the lead times go out and out (and out!), doesn't impact their ability to take an order.
Whatever the lead time the factory is quoting, Dealer A still wants your order as much as Dealer B so will continue to compete as before.
There is a supply and demand question but it's between VW HQ and their individual Country HQ's and the transfer pricing systems and quotas they operate. I guess those agreements take a long time to change, even though the (Cali) factory is clearly oversold.
That's not how it works as the finance company will claw it back from the dealer upon a settled agreement, sounds like he was more interested in his commission cheque. Also double check any early settlement charges.I will get straight onto this Monday. Many thanks. you may have saved me 750!

I never said there was a penalty. My point was that the dealer wants you to take finance to satisfy their commission come pay day. As if you pay off early the finance company claw back the £750 from dealer.Read this seems like many have paid it off without penalty.

I said 12 as standard.Hmm, yet I've spoken to two who gave me a figure of 25 at least for 2016.
You could be right it is still early.I said 12 as standard.
That's two posts you haven't read properly Teabag
I know there has been speculation about a quota system but you sound very certain. How do you know? Each dealer gets 12 per year.
I was told 12, some dealer groups may concentrate 3 or 4 sites toward one specialist so Guy may get 48 new units for example.I know there has been speculation about a quota system but you sound very certain. How do you know?
I reckon Guy at Lancaster has sold more than 12 to members who've posted here, never mind the ones who aren't members.
MorningI will get straight onto this Monday. Many thanks. you may have saved me 750!
Just feels like rumour and speculation. I feel we'd know much more about a quota system if one was actually in operation. The lead times have drifted out in too linear a fashion to feel like some annual quota had just been exceeded. Happy to learn the facts if someone knows them.I was told 12, some dealer groups may concentrate 3 or 4 sites toward one specialist so Guy may get 48 new units for example.
It's not greed to get the best deal, it's good use of the money you have. It's not cheating. It's not hurting someone else. It's totally within the rules of what they allow. I've ordered two vans from the same dealer within the space of 10months. My second deal wasn't worse because I got a good first deal. I don't think it works like that at all.I hate to say it, but if someone gets the deal of a lifetime, on finance then cancels the finance. The next customer wont get as good a deal due to the initial persons greed. As the dealer has to cover the loss.
Someone else obviously took up the slack as the £750 comes from somewhere fact. It's not greed to get the best deal, it's good use of the money you have. It's not cheating. How do they pick who takes up the slack?Someone else obviously took up the slack as the £750 comes from somewhere fact.
Don't know what there is to disagree with. But the fact that 750 has disappeared the next one may be 4% discount. If they buy they buy.How do they pick who takes up the slack?
I disagreed with what you said and so I pressed disagree. I then explained why.Don't know what there is to disagree with. But the fact that 750 has disappeared the next one may be 4% discount. If they buy they buy.
There is no selection process, that would be ridiculous.
It needs to be balanced in some way.
If you cancel and pay off a finance agreement the deposit contribution is debited from the dealer. They are now 750 down, you tell me where they get it since you obviously know some insider information that your not willing to share.I disagreed with what you said and so I pressed disagree. I agree that some people won't get as good a discount but that is down to which dealer they choose and how hard they bargain. It feels like you're trying to make people who take advantage of the discount or drive a bargain feel guilty. That's what I disagree with. You previously stated you don't like to bargain. That's ok. I do.That's ok too.
No secrecy or insider info! As I've said previously (if you read back through the threads) my dealer asked me to wait a few days before I paid my finance off. That meant that the dealer didn't lose out on the £750 and I still saved it.If you cancel and pay off a finance agreement the deposit contribution is debited from the dealer. I believe I've stated a fact in that, so you cant really disagree unless you know different.
The dealer does take it hit. My initial point was the salesman wont as he gets his commission and dealer loses outNo secrecy or insider info! I assume that the finance company takes the hit as I didn't and neither did the dealer.
My dealer asked me to wait a few days so the dealership doesn't take a hit. That's what he chatted to his manager about when I asked whether I could pay off quickly. The dealer does take it hit. My initial point was the salesman wont as he gets his commission and dealer loses out
