Exciting times. We are shipping our T5 Ocean to Australia in the container with our household belongings. For container shipping we must disconnect all batteries. It is a 2 hour drive to their base and would prefer to disconnect the leisure batteries before the drive as less faffing at the shipping company site.

Any inputs on whether this is practical and safe would be great appreciated.

No problem disconnecting.
ALSO, remove the large Brown 80 amp fuse under the passenger seat.
This is the output from the split charge relay to the underseat front Leisure battery. This avoids the Red +tve disconnected battery leads possibly being live when the engine is running.

Might be worth applying a wax sealant to protect against humidity within the container; Your metal container will sweat internally as a result of temperatures changes as it crosses the oceans.

When disconnecting the the positive will be live until both batteries are disconnected.

When driving the positive will be live for periods. Insulate the disconnected terminals accordingly.

Some people also put trays of water absorbant desiccant / dehumidifier in vehicles when shipped to help absorb any moisture. I saw once but don’t know brands or what they are called, worth googling.

For such a long journey I would also wax the body and seals then leave without buffing off. And there are products you can spray on the undercarriage to preserve that area too if really OCD.

If you remove the 80 amp fuse under the passenger seat, this stops the output from the split charge relay to the Leisure Batteries, whilst driving.
