I've used mine & not had any problem with the ABS light.
You have to reset the flat tyre indicator that was triggered by the initial flat. As long as the rolling circumference of the replacement is the same or very close to the other wheels there shouldn't be any warning lights.
Thats good to know..There must be some tolarance in wheel size purely because of tyre wear 8mm down to 2mm must make a bit of difference.

Should be ok but the link below is for a genuine VW 17" wheel with a new tyre at 2/3rds the price just check the load rating. If you don't mind a proper grubby spare wheel some like that are as low as £50.

Thanks I looked, now sold. I’ll keep looking.

I got the above wheel and carrier and spare safe. Today in amongst the showers i eventually got the job done. But wow what a faff.

Hi, I had no idea I would not get a spare tyre with our new van having selected the sports pack :-(
I love the pack but might have thought twice about getting it.

I do not have the mounting under the van to fit the 17". It is completely absent. I had one of those second take moments when I went to fix the SafeLock. Is this something any van centre could do?

Get the cradle from eBay or the like & fit it yourself - its one wire pin to thread through 4 holes & 2 bolts to screw into existing captive nuts.

Yes but they will relieve you of a substantial amount of your hard earned money. The mountings for the carrier will be there, so you just need to buy the carrier and bolt plus the spare wheel.

Dumb question! Does that kit come with the pin and bolts?
Actually I’m not sure what that part is as the listing is deceptive and says you only get what’s highlighted in red.

It looks like the bracket is more like £100: give the club shop a call as they may do them cheaper with members discount and provide good advice.

This is the part

Ok

OK, thanks. The club shop has it with all the fixing parts. I might go there because at least i know it has the mounting bits and is a genuine VW part. Thanks for your help.

Do it yourself - I paid 150 for a brand new VW steel tyre (17" - 235/55/17) and 80 for a brand new rack. Both on ebay. Took me 30 minutes to fit. Half the cost. Our Cali has the 18" fitted.
Would you have any links to where you purchased parts please

I’ve got 18inch alloys on the cali 2 wheel drive with 255x45x18 tires.
no spare so have ordered spare carriage bracket so I can add a spare steel wheel. Was thinking of a 17inch steel wheel with thicker tires to make up the same total wheel and tire diameter as what’s on the vehicle. Question is what tire size do I need and will this fit into the carriage bracket? Thanks in advance for any help
Sorry to bother you , just read your post and I’m in exactly the same predicament. Could you advise what you did and where you sourced parts etc many thks

I have a 17" Alloy wheel with a 235/55/17 All Season tyre (non rotation directional) if required £100 plus carriage.
