Generally, countries which drive on the right have a worse safety record than countries which drive on the left. The two circumstances might be unconnected, and Norway, which drives on the right, has one of the very best safety records in the world.

Correction: only SPEEDING foreign plates collect speeding fines... Don't speed, then you don't get fined.
But then where is the fun in it??
If you speed and get a fine, don't whine! Rather, sit very still in a corner, be very quiet, and shame...
Illegal to have a speed trap warning on in you vehicle in FranceI use Waze as as sat nav.... it’s not 100% accurate but very interactive with other users and does let you know instantly of speed traps... got off the hook in NJ last week...
We got stopped & fined 90€ for not stopping at a (completely empty) road junction in the Dordogne in August. But while we were paying, another couple of cars were also flagged down, all French people, so I don't think there's any bias.[/QUOTE
Yep, must stop completely at stop signs for the designated period. Can't remember if it's three or five seconds though.

But it’s a GPS software... it is not a speed trap warning! (What a great loophole )Illegal to have a speed trap warning on in you vehicle in France
In the States they use microlights and helicopters.Word of warning for those of us traveling through France
Ive heard that they are utilising drones to patrol roads, they park up out of sight and use the drones to catch speeding vehicles

This article explains the factor in road deaths is excessive speed not people driving at the speed limit. My conclusion is that if you slow down the law abiding driver and he is hit by a speeding one then joint impact speed is reduced thus saving some lives. Hopefully.
They also use helicopters in the UK, hence the 2ft white squares on the roads as measures. In the States they use microlights and helicopters.
