Storage options in the Beach

Always at bedtime I think its a problem where to store all clothing. Food and fridge is usually stored in the boot so that is no problem.
What about these bags? A bit expensive at 300€

I was looking at those too, they do look good. We were well up for them until I saw the price, it seems a lot of cash.

How do they fix, do they stay in place well? I've noticed most places that stock those are quoting May for Stock.

I also heard that the manufacturer of these is in Greece but didnt manage to work out who..

Thanks for the photo. How do they work and look, when the rear bench-seat it up in the seating position?

I have a Beach, with the 3-seater rear bench seat.

Interesting. Buy a Beach, with excellent visibility, light and airy with a good all round view and then blank off 25% of the windows.:sorry

Not cheap at all....but they worth every euro.
The bags fit perfectly. No lack or light from outside. They have a rear strong panel which fits between plastic and mirror. We have they on and never remove. But it's an easy twoseconds situation, if needed. Ciao

Obviously rear bench always ready in bed position. We're five, no sliding makes it easier at night, for us.

All a compromise sadly, I would rather leave the windows clear but we do need a little more storage. Only other solution I can think of is perhaps some sort bag strapped to the underneath of the poptop inside so they basically hug the ceiling but that will have its downsides too.

I may just move the 3 seat bench forward slightly and store stuff behind it.

True, true @WelshGas - Here are my excuses..... I park in a 2.1m height restricted underground carpark.... Which has ruled the tailgate cycle-carrier out, as with bikes loaded, over 2.1m. As a workaround, I have a towbar fitted, so use the Thule EasyFold, which doesn't slide forward enough to allow the tailgate to open..... Bummer.... I live in a small apartment, so storing anything other than the compact Thule Easyfold, isn't an option either. Our Beach is also our daily driver, we would us the window-storage, to give access to clothes, wash-bags etc etc whilst touring with bike rack installed......Whilst my predicaments are quite unusual, i'm glad there's always a solution when it come to the California. Long may those solutions continue..... Albeit, some compromise is always required when other restrictions are in-place.

We would use these window-bags, only as a solution, for long tours, when the tow-bar bike rack is also fitted.

Yes. But what a PITA for us to empty&refill evrytime.... for us the van should always be ready to go.... three little girls altrady to help...at least the van is ready...and we have no space at home or garage for every item...
Ps. 75% of the windows is still clear and free!!!

A market then for VW to produce a Beach without Rear Side windows and a built in storage system instead as an Option.:thumb

My two boys need next to no leg space. The group 2/3 integrated seat isn't quite touching the leg of the group 1 seat, but they are only separated by millimetres. It gives plenty of additional space behind the bench.

Maybe - but one of the attractions of the Beach is the ability of the user to transform it day-to-day: 2 seat van; MPV and four/five berth overnight sleeping accommodation. The removable window bags serve to enhance the versatility, whereas built-in storage would restrict versatility.

If you notice on my post above I mentioned an" Option ". Possibly low cost as avoiding time and expense of fitting glass and blinds etc, and for some might be a good solution, especially if using the vehicle daily and carrying " stuff" in the boot area. Out of sight so to speak.
Basically a Kombi, but fitted with roof and rear seat/ bed.

A popular vehicle often used by converters as they can have swivel seats fitted and Parking Heater from factory.

Vanessa themselves have them in stock. Apparently there was an issue with the first produced, the smelled bad etc, so now they are produced by Vaude.
California-camping.de makes similar but much worse and cheaper.

Yes agree.
Once again, it demonstrates how truly versatile the Beach is...!!!

I just don't get the percieved rivalry by some regarding Ocean or Beach. You get what suits your lifestyle. An Ocean if you want a campervan or Beach if you want a multi purpose vehicle. I must admit the Ocean is the only one to suit my purpose but each have merits. No need to try and score points as life is too short.

Beach versatility versus Ocean specialism, unlike the stone versus bronze argument circa 3300 BCE, is an argument that cannot be won.

No one has compared vehicles here...???
It's you raising the issue.

Can Beach owners not verify a good point to their vehicle ownership without someone being offended or starting another point scoring debate.

:headbang

I think Digger referred to to this:

Which is quite silly in its own way, one of the problems with the Beach obviously if you ever used one, is lack of storage. The Ocean has its cupboards etc but also a larger space under the seats. Not much at all can be stowed away under the Beach seats, we are happy of we can store the front window blinds and some glasses.

My idea behind this thread was to discuss different storage options. Here is one more from Maxcamp for the 2 seat beach:

Aren't the seats on the Ocean and Beach the same (obviously I'm talking about the 2-seat Bench version here)?
