T6 VW California Delays

I'm guessing you've ordered a manual rather than a dsg? I think the parts supply issue is related to the dsg.

Have spoken to a few dealers today and all have noticed an upsurge in interest in used Cali's. Seems a load of us are looking to cancel and get into something sooner.
If anyone is interested in a t6 manual 150 beach with around 9000 miles and 2 services already paid for let me know. Available mid August.

Hi stevecateram7,
yes it a manual I've ordered.
I couldn't stop myself from hammering the brakes with my left foot :headbang.
it was either the DSG of a divorce lol

Each to their own but I struggle to comprehend the favour for dsg. It certainly not my choice and an old stick shift anyday will do.
Spend 3/4 of my driving life (about 30k miles a year) on regularly snarled up motorways, comes a point where a clutch just becomes too annoying in traffic jams.

Hi folks , just had a great weekend with a demo call 204 dsg ocean. Went to the Lake District , put 500miles on it , fantastic could not have been better found the van a great all rounder both to live in and to drive. And great news when we returned to the dealer! Our van is on track to be built starting next week (25) so all going well we will have it end of July beginning of August

You can have both with the DSG, just no clutch.:thumb

Well folks,
Our dealer has just given me an update on our Beach after the systems being down on Friday.
It has been built and is now in day 3 of transit, sitting at the port awaiting to be shipped :):):):)
and I'm very excited and nervous about its arrival........

Received an update today that my beach has jumped forward from wk 31 scheduled to wk 26 (end June) confirmed and the dealer is predicting a 1st Aug handover. Not holding my breath but it is the first time the date has moved in the right direction for me!

Last week I was told the delay was down to the additional seats (a link to "swivel gate" maybe

Sounds promising. Is yours DSG or manual?

Guess that makes sense. If they've pulled all the DSG's out of the queue then they can put manuals into their slots. Hope you enjoy the van!
Thanks. I've been on the verge of cancelling for weeks now. Investigated a few used but there are very few t5's around with the parking heater. Peterborough have had their high spec demo t5 with parking heater available since Feb but won't budge to what I consider a sensible price!

If that's the silver one on 18" alloys it has now sold. Phoned about it the other day as I'm ready to jack it in.

Has anyone put an order in for a T6 Cali recently (within the past week) ? I have contacted four dealers so far this week and they are all giving build dates of week 28 which is June so I can't see delivery happening until July.

We are worried as we are now going to miss a lot of the season, we also need to take into account further delays.

Tempted to maybe buy a T5 but prices seem to be holiding up well.

Hi
I am hoping to buy a DSG Ocean from a dealer, who has just told me today that the confirmed build week is 43 (23 October, 2016). I know it takes a few weeks for the vehicle to reach the UK, but does anyone know if a "confirmed" build date can change. The dealer said "only if the factory burns down" but I seem to have read stories on this forum of people being let down by it slipping and also being pleasantly surprised by it being brought forward. Comments please?

That's the one! Finally gone then. I enquired about it before I placed my order but they wanted more for that than I could get my perfect spec t6 for. Enquired again last week since they had dropped the price..... just not by enough for me

Ordered early Feb, eventually given build week 26 but then order vanished from system. Contact from dealer today that our Beach is currently in Stage 1 build so they predict max. 9 weeks until delivery although he has recently had some arriving 3 weeks earlier than expected. At least some of the summer will be spent in it...maybe! Not holding my breath but another glimmer of hope!

I am now quite pleased that the DSG Beach I have ordered to my specification is to be used by the dealer for three months as a demonstrator before delivery to me. I understand that VW operate a different priority queue for demonstrators.

Had the anticipated email today (after reading this thread) from the dealer informing us our build slot has moved from an original week 19 (never confirmed) to estimated week 33. How can VW after 4 months still not be able to give a fixed build date and it is for this reason we are cancelling the order. I have no faith that week 33 will not become week 40 and so on. Life is too short. They blamed the MY change this is something again I not understand as I ordered 4 months ago!!!

We have had exactly the same thing. Ordered in Wk4, told 14 wk lead time, so build wk18. Then it went to wk 30, then back to 26, then 24, then vanished completely because of "Model Year changes" and though it looks to be back in system (now at wk27!) it is all really disappointing... Any new orders are apparently being told told March 2017 for delivery!

Clearly, there's a lot of frustrated people in the Cali Club, and I can only sympathise with you guys. After very little communication (nearly always prompted by me) we finally had an email last week from VW Manchester Van Centre confirming that our "week 14 delivery" manual Ocean (ordered on 26 January) is somewhere between Hanover and Manchester... That should be good news unless it gets held up in the ports - is it Emden to Immingham that they use? I'll probably see it one morning somewhere on the M62 - pity it can't be dropped off here in Yorkshire... We'll then have only days to prep it for a N Devon surf trip and then a wedding in Ireland - not mine, I hasten to add. Hope all your problems get resolved sooner rather than later...

From my experience (and similar to others on here), I didn't get a confirmed build date until a few weeks before it was actually built, so I would be sceptical if the dealer is giving you a confirmed build date now.

My timeline was:
  • Jan 15th - ordered with an estimated delivery date of May 15th.
  • Feb 2nd - received estimated build date of Week 14
  • Mar 18th - received confirmed build date of Week 14
  • Apr 4th - received notification that build was in progress
  • Apr 12th - received notification that van was in transit
  • May 3rd - van arrived at dealer :)
I feel very lucky as it seems those who ordered in February are facing big delays :(

Thanks Stuart for your interesting information.
I didn't mention it, because I hadn't thought it relevant before, that the van I hope to buy (build date 23rd Oct) will be a demonstrator for 3 months after arrival at dealer. Dealer seemed adamant the build date was confirmed, although as you point out it is still over 4 months away. Interestingly the confirmed date was only a couple of weeks after the dealer placed the order for the demo - as I found out when I tried to add cruise control. (I was told once you have a confirmed build date no changes are possible - I can half see that but 4 months away!) I read somewhere else that demonstrators might be treated differently in the queue but I've really no idea.
Steve
