T6 VW California Delays

Uh oh ... my build date just jumped from week 26 to week 39. Is it real? I guess I'll just wait for week 26 to arrive and see what is happening at the time.

Sadly I suspect it is real. Only upside is that at least you got told before you got there. I found out in week 22 that my week 21 build slot hadn't in fact been met. Hope it gets better for you.

Oh, crap.

In May when we ordered it was looking like week 33-36. Another salesman was listening to our conversation and sent an email to 'our' salesman. It stated on the email, that our 204 x 4 DSG wouldn't be built before week 44-46. We ordered 23May and are looking to a Feb/Mar delivery. As long as we get it before the tax changes we'll be ok with that. Not good news for you all in currently in the system.

We ordered on 27 April and have just been given a week 41 build date for our 150 DSG Beach. As a precaution, I asked for a longstop date of 31 March 2017 for delivery to be added to the order contract.

Good idea, I may do the same. Did you need that in writing or was it accepted verbally ?

When I ordered my T5 I got them to write it on the Deposit Invoice/Order form. as I ordered in May for delivery Dec 1st 2014 as it was the day after I retired and was going to be my runaround. That way I was able to organise everything , sale of my car etc:. It arrived early and Dealer phoned but 1st Dec it was. That way I could book sites and trips with confidence rather than will it or won't it arrive in time. Does have advantages.

It is written into the comments box of the order form, along with a maximum mileage as an ex-demonstrator.

A verbal agreement, without an independent witness, and if contested, might be insufficient to convince a court that a contract to deliver by a certain date was in place. As I understand it (and my legal knowledge is limited) is it makes the dealer responsible for any loss I suffer as a result of their failure to fulfil the contract on time.

We had one added to our contract. When I asked for it to be added the dealer immediately shifted from his "2-3 months" for delivery to "6 to be safe"! Even that may be tight but it helps them focus. And you're right, if it isn't recorded, it didn't happen in the eyes of the law over such disputes.

Mine arrived at the dealer last week and only a couple of weeks behind the dealer's original estimate, so feeling very fortunate indeed:rolleyes:. The LED headlights did come with the washers though they weren't specified, despite me having seen various LED T6 Calis and Transporters around without washers. Build week was 19, dealer reckons it would have predated the MY2017 changeover.

Good for you!

Thanks, as I too was wondering why my LED lights came with the washers (which I didn't ask for & didn't really want.)
Hope they don't get damaged when the snow on the bumper freezes-over, come winter-time.
Mind you, bit warmer where you are :)

Just a quick update on my earlier posts. We ordered our Cali on 20th Jan, the build date moved a bit from week 16 to 19. Our dealer called on the 2nd June to advise our van had been built and should be with the dealer "within 10 days". The dealer called again today to confirm our Cali has arrived :)

Pulled the plug on my order today. Utterly fed up with VW and their lack of communication, frankly they don't deserve the money. After the emissions debacle I thought they'd be the most customer focused car company, but clearly got a lot more to learn.

VW have learned nothing steve ! Sorry to hear you have finally pulled the plug on your T6 . I am still waiting for information on my January T6 order and now the only people at the dealership who could possibly give me any information (allegedly!) are on holiday until the end of the month . Well i hope they have a great time as i have had to cancel my planned holiday in 1 weeks time as i have No Cali ! I am still unsure whether to hang on for it or cancel . Either way , i have been informed to wait patiently until they return from there holiday! Patiently.........ive been patiently waiting since January when i was told it would easily be here by May with a provisional build of week 16 ! Is it worth all this hassle ?

In the same boat. Week 16 build and confirmed delivery date to dealer is now an unconfirmed week 37 ... with our T5 sold!
Perhaps threats of multiple simultaneous cancellations may have an impact ..... they're certainly not bothered about individual ones! :-(

We ordered just before Christmas and still do not have a fixed build date, ours is a 204 DSG. We have already had to cancel several weekends away and now it looks like we will have to cancel the two week summer holiday to Italy in July :( We are very tempted to cancel but there are no real alternatives out there so anything would be a compromise. It would be interesting to know what @Stevecaterham7 went for instead?

Now this is the bit i don't understand. You ordered before christmas and now no confirmed date . I ordered January , no fixed date now (original build week 16) , however a friend of mine ordered January (admittedly 2 weeks before me , but obviously after you ) and he has had his 204DSG approximately 3 weeks now ! (again told prov build week 16)Spec of his same colour , same 204DSG 4 motion as mine ONLY difference being mine has media sat nav and LED lights .
Anyone got any ideas what is going on here? Dealers don't ......or if they do they are not telling us.

Thats the bit the really hurts , like you i sold my T5 as dealer advised me to , due to fact T6 would easily be here by end of May(that was giving them 4 months after they said 3 months!) and i didn't want to be in the position of having 2 California's !
Well 1 California would be nice now !
My biggest mistake ......Trusting VW ! If i had been given the correct information at point of sale i would still have placed order but would have used my T5 throughout this year and there would have been no stress , just optimism and joy looking forward to a T6 towards the end of this year . But now we have anger and mixed feelings with regard to waiting . The more i read on the forum , the more angry i get . Maybe i should stop reading , but without this forum i would imagine (as dealer would like me to believe) , that i am the only one experiencing the delay.

Surely you would have thought they would have sharpened up since Emissions Scandal .

Clearly not !

It would be great if we could start a list of people who have ordered and current position , i.e. Order date ,delivered , provisional build dates , confirmed build dates , delays and spec ordered. This way maybe we would have some exact info to go back to VW with?

By pure luck I found a dealer with a demo dsg beach and he's done me a good deal on it. Should collect by end of the month. If I'd had more flexibility on financing it I'd have gone to either vanworx or überbus and built myself something special.

Ordered 15th March 204 DSG 4 Motion with LED Satnav ACC etc.

Dealer keeps me in touch that there is no build date

I have just come across this thread and was interested as there are so many pages? It does seem so varied?
In reading some of the stories and views I think I have been very lucky with my delivery.
I ordered my 204DSG end of January and took delivery end of April?. Yet I read others still waiting placed orders before Christmas.?
Is it the dealer allocations?..

Rumour has it that if you complain to Vw customer care that you were promised a 3/4 month delivery and it has been substantially delayed they will financially compensate you for either; depreciation in value of your existing car between when you should have sold it and when you will, or if you have already sold it and have had to make alternative transport arrangements, or if you had holiday arrangements which will be affected by the delay and financial loss as a result.

A "friend" just received a cheque in the post.
