Ten things I hate about my Cali

I do but I need to make the trip 4x a day. I also need the car for work! Takes me 35min to walk and therefore difficult to come back for the dogs at lunchtime.

Agree, diesels take a lot longer to heat up but the Cali takes too long in comparison to the other diesels owned

So how many Diesel heaters have you fitted?

Well I must be unusual . Cannot get to 10 or anywhere close to it.
1. Dashboard/Windscreen gap - fixed with a rubber moulding strip.
2. Opening roof hatch - fixed with replacement felt strips at the rear of the hatch sliding channel.
3. Useless cup holder and 12v socket between bench seat and sliding door. But have now found a use for it and the 12v socket.

No rattles or squeaks.
DSG operates faultlessly under all conditions.
Engine warms up within 3/4 miles in summer and 1/2 miles in winter if the Webasto Coolant Heater is triggered.
Stop/Start works as expected.

Mind you it is in use virtually every day.

Interested to know what people use their useless cup holder for?
I keep a tennis ball in mine.
I don't use it much, but it fits!

Nil. Didn't need them prior to the Cali and we couldn't afford one when the old man had a HGV back in the 80s.

Managed to hear the overrun on the night heater and smell the fumes when I stopped this morning so it must be a similar setup to the FBH on the Discovery. Need to look into it some more.

There is no temperature display on my control unit. The menu shows it, but when selected it says refer to the dashboard display (or words to that effect).
The indication is on the console only when ignition is OFF.
Otherwise it is on the dash.

I keep the keys to the water tank, tow bar and bike rack in there, also the remote for the heater.

Cancel and ask for your deposit back. Take it from someone who was in sales for thirty years. Best to phone on a Monday morning at 0930hrs. The managers are at their desks. They are all about to go into a sales meeting and their order book is empty and on page 1 for the week. Also its Christmas the worse time of the year for large ticket items...... Upto you but that is what I would do......

Then what do we do?
Start again from scratch?

Lewis, hi, can't think why not. Alan Day City, there is a very helpful chap called John Coles, recommended to me by the lovely people at ***************.

Couple of caveats - so far its only warranty work, and some parts (the sink, believe it or not) still to arrive from wherever so not yet complete. Not apparently an official Cali supplier, but my experience of them to date has been very good indeed.

Just outside the congestion zone, will be much easier to get to (particularly for me) when Tower Bridge reopens.

Will post an update when the whole saga is over.
Sorry moderators, not sure why the name of the people who have helped us with the Cali has been blanked out!

As long as you sit there taking it on the chin they will go on dishing it out. NO sales organisations, and make no mistake that is what they are, like cancellations. If they are genuine they will do their damn best not to loose your order. If not then we will be having this conversation a year today. They might offer you an incentive to keep your order which is what we did when we had delivery problems.

Plenty of incentives have been offered and I'm sure there are more to be negotiated, don't worry we won't loose out .

I hope not and being the most impatient person to have ever drawn breath I really feel for you. Spending so much is a huge leap of faith .They are risking a bad case of buyers remorse. Best wishes and Merry Christmas.

Yes you're right. This morning is was 7.5C on the roof display, and 0.5C on the Combi display. I had the heating on to melt the frost and it must have affected wherever the sensor is.

Why doesn't it have an electro-mechanical handbrake that I can put on and leave on whilst rotating the drivers seat instead of the old school lever that just gets in the way.

If you mean like a button you press instead of the handbrake. Then, no way pedro...!!!
I want a proper mechanical lever that I can engage before jumping up into the roof for a nights sleep:eek:
Agree though, would be nice if the swivels didn't foul the handbrake.

I just wish the handbrake was on the other side as with some other vehicles. Would be a darn sight easier to do then.

Surely this is the solution to the handbrake.
I've seen this on Mercedes Sprinter converts too.

Yes Hoss...!!!
That's what we need.
Perfect solution

Why are there no courtesy lights (operated by opening the door) in the back passenger compartment? You have to turn on a light or manage with the glimmer from the front (or step light). Them you lock up, walk away, only to look back and see you've left the light on...

My only complaint after 3 days of ownership is the level indicator for the fresh water seemed okay until I sterilised and flushed the tank and now it flashes to say Broken.
Any clues?

I found it flashes if disconnected, so worth checking you haven't pulled the connectors out.

Unfortunately to sterilise the tank I disconnected and removed the level device to put my steriliser in. I did go back to check it was reconnected properly and that the float wasn't fouled on anything but all was okay. But still flashing.

The grey water tank isn't showing any level but I guess that one just shows when it's full!
