Not long after buying our 2014 T5 from VW Llandudno Junction this time last year I queried the battery indicator dropping to 70% quite quickly while it was in for a replacement sliding window above the sink. When I went back to pick the van up they'd run some checks on both leisure batteries and decided the rear one was not 100% and replaced it free of charge. While the van was covered by the 12 month DasWelt for 2nd hand vehicles it was out of the VW 3 year warranty by then; either way I was surprised they replaced the battery for free like that on a >3 year old van and suspect it was basically a good will gesture.I very much doubt it unless a specific battery fault was shown and that would probably have been very early on in the warranty.
Yes I know the recommendation is replace both batteries at the same time but I'm not complaining and they've been good since....
