Bxl - is he reputable?

We never got as far as going there to see him - we found ours in Germany around the same time.
That said, the few emails I did have with him he seemed up front (a couple of the vans at the time were, to the trained eye converted Multivans, be them very good looking conversions, but he was honest about it when asked...)
But on that note, I think he does seem to have a few of these such conversions (imports from further afield - read into that what you choose) - some tell-tale signs that the vans are not always everything they appear to be, so be be vigilant...

And to be honest, at the end of the day these folks are 'used-car-dealers'... generally not to be trusted with your granny! We thought the guy we bought from in Germany was an honest straight up kind of guy, but at the end of the day he still let us down on a few things and so it comes down to doing your homework, checking the vehicles yourself, paperwork trails... and seeing through the bullsh*t when you're faced with it...;)

Not sure if this helps...

Agreed but it has all the toys. Cruise, air con, elec windows, latest sink/tap, external water filler, gas bottle in the rear etc etc

No need for the Red 'I' to get all those goodies. Most just came with models from around 2000 on. Cruise can be retrofitted to any of the engines with an ECU. Think it costs around £300 at a dealers including all the parts. Specialists can probably perform the task a little cheaper. The Red 'I' obviously gets your some extra beans under the bonnet but the 102 can happily sit at 80 plus (where the law permits, ahem). How long you'd want to do that depends on how deep your pockets are and whether you find the scenery interesting or not.

Quality Intel.

I've got my heart/mind set on the red i.
My 78 bhp lump will spin up to a comfortable 130kph all day. I'm hoping the 150 is all about torque not so much power.

Fact. On the seventh day god sat down with a beer and schemed out the VW/Audi 5 pot engine.

......saving 25k euros too.
Good work.

Happy to help!
And with that badge it really will be all 'talk' and not about the power at all... ;)

My better half is used to that ......

Spotted that on Autoscout.
Translate the blurb and it reveals a 170 remap! Hmmmmm?
Plus I don't care for the non painted bumper.
Apart from those it sounds pretty good.

Keep em coming.

There seems to be quite a few nice Multivans with Westy roofs (Beach) on Mobile.de. Mostly 150s.

It should be easy enough to transplant the Westy stuff out of my van into a Multivan.
Cheap upgrade.

Blasphemy!
You can't go ripping the heart out of a thoroughbred Westy to put in a mere mortal of a Multivan...
Wash your mouth out young man...!

Er........in my defence, I was being economical and practical.

There is no shortage of clean '150' spec Multivans, several with the Westy roof conversion.
I'll probably end up with two vans so it makes sense........? Yes/No?

I'll get my coat!

Well one mongrel Multivan hybrid and the sad empty soul-less Westy...:(
Would it not be better, if you want to go down that route, to sell the running Westy and then put a conversion kit into the poptop Multivan? At least the Westy would live on...

...although, the less Westy's there are, the more the remaining ones are worth! :D:D Kill it! ;)
...no don't, please don't... :(

Oooo nice work.

First one looks good.

There's a nice one on mob.de that I'm going to see at the weekend.

It's close, I can feel it.

That first one is and Event model. Not sure but it doesn't appear to have a night heater. And at that kinda money I'd expect one. You can tell by the Central Control panel - it should have a full complement of buttons.

Well spotted - though that would be bizarre for that model year - was it not standard by then?

I thought it odd too. Initially thinking it was an early model pretending to be something else. Ours is a Generation Edition which was produced for the 2 years before the Event and it had a night heater as standard. Seems VW reverted back to it being an extra for the Event and Freestyle models. I suspect the majority of them sold in the northern region of Europe will have the night heater though.

There is another nice one on mobile.de without a heater.

I did consider it and add a new heater myself.

Any links to share? Fitting an aftermarket heater isn't too bad unless you fork out for the VW kit which'll set you back a good £1600 plus any other extras you might need - mounts, looms etc.

I think the UK is looking cheaper at the moment, even before taking the recent impact of the week pound into account. Sidepod has probably hedged his currency though ;)

Oh sure, hedged, index linked, invested, re-invested, isa'd and then spent by Mrs Pod, although, to be fair, I have the funding sanctioned. Knowing my luck, that will get withdrawn at a moments notice and without explanation!

Sadly it's more a case of availability over here. I don't mind. I'm happy to source one from the fatherland.
