Hi. Don’t know if this is useful to anyone.
After having a side window pushed in with the greatest of ease, we installed a “Van Guardian‘ www.vanguardian.co.uk
It’s a stand-alone system primarily aimed at preventing tool theft. Easy instal and works really well.
cheers
Andrew

Is that the single or dual alarm you have fitted? Does the alarm coverage extend to the doors or just the window area?

Dual alarm &extends to cover the sides. He’s got a few vids up on YouTube

Andrew, thanks for posting this. You have fitted a Dual Alarm on each side of your van, the theory being that will give protection (on each side) from anyone tampering with the windows AND driver / passenger doors? The product has great reviews & seems good value for money. We’re these easy to fit, are they secure, in that no-one can easily take them off without triggering the alarm and are the batteries easy to change?

Many thanks
Ian

Hello Ian
- Very easy to fit. Everything included in the kit including alcohol wipes to prep the surface etc. Instructions are comprehensive enough, but there’s a few vids on YouTube too.
- Very secure: I was a bit dubious with this 3M tape, but actually as long as the surface is prepped it adheres very well.
- Not sure of the plastic it’s made from, but it’s that kind of tough, non brittle stuff that would take the blows and not shatter.
- If you try and tamper with it, it’s really quite loud. The nice thing is, If you activate one unit- it sets off the other ones round the van.
- the manual says on average batteries last for 3 months ( obs depending on usage ) Easy to change. Just remove the outer cover ( special tool supplied ) then you can get at the units and once unscrewed, prise them apart with something that resembles a guitar pic ( again - included)
- also to note, It doesn’t look too much out of place on the van. The outer cover can be supplied painted to suit.
For the price, and what it does- it’s good!
Cheers
Andrew
