VW California in a 2m Height restricted car park

Hi. I need to take my daughter at Heathrow Terminal 4, so would use the short term parking. Height restriction says vehicle height restricted to 2m. My VW Beach 2019 is listed as 1990cm, though the awning does seem to be a tiny bit higher (maybe 1cm). Just wondering if anyone has taken their van into the T4 short term multi story. When it says max vehicle height am I correct in assuming that the roof height is then higher than this to allow a 2m vehicle access. My problem is I don't really have any other choice. If I do any of the park and rides, I need to pay minimum of a day rate - and may not be able to get back to it on the last bus. Thanks for any advice

I’ve never done that particular car park but I’m sure others here have and will feedback.

Generally speaking, 2m height restrictions is 100% fine. I go into 2m underground and multi-storey car parks all the time, including at airports. All fine.

If there’s a speed bump just before the entrance, just go slowly on it so that you don’t bounce up I guess.

Use T5 parking all the time - the Cali never been an issue and that also says 2M.

We find that ducking your head down as you under the barrier helps ;)

Most 2m restricted car parks are fine. Ours measures 1990 to the high point of the awning. There have been a few older car parks that we’ve opted not to go in, with multiple dents in the barrier and paint marks on concrete beams, or with signs saying “2m / 6ft”. I think well maintained car parks should b red okay.

What used to be called long term parking at T4, now called park and ride, has 2.5m height barriers. It used to have a grace period of 15 minutes before charging started, plenty of time to drop someone off at the bus stops inside and exit for free. Might be worth checking to see if that still applies.

1. The standard VW factory awning is not the highest point, centre of the roof is.
2. A 2m height restriction will be fine.
