VW Camping Shower

No joy for me with the wiggling :cool: I tried to prise it off with a screwdriver but I could hear plastic cracking noises so I stopped immediately. There is a plastic nut on the tank - can this be unscrewed to get better access? Any tips for heating up the hose? I used a mug of boiling water to dip the new hose to soften it up but I cant do this for the existing hose :D

I'm not sure what to suggest as mine came off fairly easily. The trim in cupboard closest to the side of the van is removable, you could possibly get better access through there.

Thanks Ragged, I'll see if it gives better access, also if I wait until the weather warms up the hose will be more malleable.

Just bought this from Decathlon (Ref 8333161) - lightweight and packs down really small. Just fill with water, pump some pressure in and you've got a pretty good, powerful shower. 45 euro is a little steep, but it seems well made. Still have the problem of heating up a solar shower before use (easier in S of France..) but I'm going to fill it with warm tap water tomorrow before heading off kitesurfing, and I expect a nice warm shower after I get out of the sea, which will be bliss!

fill it with hot water when you leave home - put in front of the parking heater outlet while you surf - it will stay warm

Report from the beach yesterday - I can confirm that the Quechua solar shower was excellent! Filled with hot water, left in the boot and was still perfectly warm a few hours later, and it's a great shower. Almost too good really because you feel a bit of a cheat using such decadence! As my wife says - it shatters the image of the rufty tufty winter surfer...! I don't care - all the salt and seaweed washed off before getting into the van is a bonus and enough water left to hose down the board too.

Yep - I've bought one of these as well along with a pop-up shower / toilet tent. Not used it yet but it develops a good head of pressure.

The install is pretty easy.
The outlet is from;
http://www.laleisure.co.uk/motorhome-re ... shower-box
The shower head is from;
http://www.leisureshopdirect.com/carava ... ction.aspx

The inside diameter of the water hose is 10mm. I installed a 10mm tee in the existing water pipe as it exits the water tank, one leg goes to the sink and the other leg goes to the new outlet. I have run a 2core 0.75mm flat flex from the sink micro switch connector to the new shower outlet switch and connected them in parallel so if either switch is operated the pump will run. I have taken the measurements for the hole from a factory fitted outlet in our local van center. The main hole is 64mm and the fixings are M5. I installed M5 nutcerts to save fiddling about with nuts on the rear of the fixings. The install took 2-3 hours. I plan to add a blue LED to indicate the pump is running to make it identical to the factory fitted option.
Hi there, I'd be interested in installing this kit in my T4, however when I click on the links above, I'm asked for login details. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards Padraic.

Hi, I may be being stupid, but how on earth do you log on to www.laleisure.co.uk ??

Many thanks.

Ho all, just a quick question regarding te cali shower. Am i correct in saying that the switch activates the pump and then the little handle on the shower head allows the flow of water out of the shower head???
If this is the case it must be difficult to use when it has to be held in one hand to use.
Also, would it not be bad for the pump running and the path of the water closed?
Regards Padraic.

You are partially right.

The shower in the T6 (factory fit) is operated by a small switch that turns the pump on and then you can start the flow from the shower head with the handle. The handle can lock in the 'on' position though, so can be used hands free if you can mount the shower head somewhere sensible.

My understanding re the pump is that it is ok to run as long as it is in water and doesn't run dry. This helps cool the motor.

All the details are on page 2 of this thread, otherwise phone Steve at SMG, pretty sure he knows the parts required, he sold me my bits.

AND please let us know how you get on if you go ahead with the job :)

I recently fitted a shower kit to my T4. I didn’t use VW parts, but they are very similar.
See the tread here.

I'm going to need someone to fit them for me. DIY and me do not mix, I am absolutely useless when it comes to things like this.

I sat with the parts girl for an hour going through their micro fiche!
I see if I can dig out the invoice later.

Thank you so much that would be a big help, and then we can discuss as per private message
