What have you bought for your Cali today :-)

Will you be covering the sink and cooker glass tops do you think? What is delivery time?

The delivery time was about a week. Now thinking of covering the fridge top as well with a map of Europe. Can't decide whether to put the map on the table or fridge. Will use the rest of the red gingham on the other one. The van is currently being wrapped so can't measure the fridge top.

Not going to wrap the cooker/sink top as it lets light through when it's up

Good afternoon,

May I follow up from my recent post about the drawer kit? The weather was beautiful today so I thought I could go ahead to install it.

The installation was straight forward - yet a wee bit tricky.

I followed the information provided by the supplier on a flyer and the video. I measured the holders to line up the runner from the original drawer to the new drawers. Especially the right side it seems I came 2 or 3 mm to far forward which blocked the sliding door :shocked . It was tricky to open it again. I pushed the new 3x drawers further back (as much it was possible without causing damage). And now it works - just enough room for the sliding door to close.

For people who are interested in the drawer kit and going to buy it, please keep this in mind. I believe now it is far better to have the drawer kit a few mm to the back than to the front.

But it is done now:

In total I changed the storage space with the drawer kit (see above), shelves in the cupboard:

And a slide out drawer in the boot:

That should be enough. Have I said that, I am toying with the idea to get the Felleisen Smutje to keep all things in for the short stop (Tea, coffee, sugar, cups etc.). The reason why I still hesitate is, it is so terrible expensive (so it feels to me). But maybe Santa will come to ....

Hello,
That looks great!
Can you choose the height at which you want to put the shelves?
Thanks

Hello Nathz,

Yes you can. That is one of the reason why the installation took a bit longer.

I setup the holders as in the manual and put everything into the wardrobe fixed just by a wee bit of tape. At that point I saw that the height distribution of the shelves won't suit me. So I measured it again, took everything out, changed it and put it back again. Now happy with, I glued the holders properly to the wall.

But it is also possible to change the height after the shelf was properly installed, it is just a bit more fiddly.

Happy California,
Eberhard

Thanks for the explanation, I'm gonna go for it!

Well, at the risk of being controversial, I bought a service plan for four years and one MoT test. Works out at £958 and I know it only covers the test cost and routine service work - not belts and anything else they may find - but at £245 roughly per visit, including VAT, I think this sounds good to maintain a main dealer service history. Also bought a couple of great new sleeping bags and pillows in a bid to reduce the sheer volume of stuff to pack!!

Cooking stoves notoriously don’t turn down particularly low so it’s good to have a heat diffuser to hand if you need lower heat under pans with thin bases. I have one of these https://www.lakeland.co.uk/10426/Large-Heat-DiffuserView attachment 69671
Thanks we don't cook inside the brach's anyway as prefer not to.

We have the Primus tupike stove, it's pretty solid and really responsive with the gas settings anyway.
