View attachment 18675 View attachment 18674 View attachment 18673 Went to the Ardennes in Belgium, near the German border. At minus 13 degrees C, experienced one fine and warm night in the Cali, thanks to the heater and our Brandrup Isotop (great accessory!). On Sunday did some cross-country skiing and enjoyed the landscape in the sunny weather.
Very nice Erwin, I will receive my cali this weel I was planning on spending the first nights out in the Ardennes. Did you practice free (wild) camping? If so, where? Any recommendation?
Thanks

Nothing. It's having a rest at Heathrow Long Stay Carpark.
I'm in the bar of the 4 Seasons Hotel, overlooking Circular Quay in Sidney, planning a coastal walk around Bondi Beach tomorrow.:D :cheers

Emptied the van cupboards this morning after weekend camping in Sussex. Found an orange that had been in there since... must have been end of Nov.

Well I think it was an orange.

Just leave it in place , always good to have some dried fruit as healthy snack....:D

Gave Mr Blu his first wash! And very handsome he looks too

And...fitted the roof bungee, emptied a few more things from the Cali Bottom Drawer, and, sat in the back with a cup of coffee with a big grin on my face, on my drive :) !!

Tomorrow's job is the internal Cali Cozi fitting. I've watched the youtube video about 3 times, read the instructions, checked and re-checked all the bits are there, so fingers crossed. It looks like a great piece of kit. We’re off camping for the night on Saturday so I’m keen to see how it performs!

Waved my Cali goodbye this mornig at 6am when i took my electric bike for a 18km ride to work when it was -4 celcius.
When i got back home arround 16.30h (again 18km in -2cel. this time )he was still sitting nice and cosy in the garage....
Normal day at the office;)

I too ride my electric bike the 9 miles to work when ever I can to keep the miles off the Cali. I try and do at least two trips a week (36 miles off) if possible. If it's very wet or icy I do still use my Cali. Love using the remote park heater to defrost the screen before I go to work.

I used to ride my road bike (with thin tyres and 110psi) but a big crash in the wet and broken bones (fixed back together now!) has meant I keep it now for sunny days and weekends and thus use the electric bike as a practical alternative to the Cali. I have panniers on it as well so can carry all I need to work. I find the spinning keeps me warm and it does 15mph so I get to work in 36mins! You have to pedal but not too much power required so get to work warm but not overcooked like when on a racing bike.

The Cali is great for so many types of trip. Whether it is a weekend away or just using it for a day out so we can make tea and keep our packed lunch cold in the fridge it's a great vehicle.

I have had more comments and questions from random strangers about the VW California that I had when I owned my mid-life-crisis-mid-engined-loud-impractical-2-seater-will-I-blow-the-engine-up-today-?-vehicle!!! People are genuinely interested in rhe Cali and how it all works etc.

Just can't wait for the spring and get back out at the weekend in it with the family again. But until then I'm enjoying using it most days as my normal mode of transport.

The current E-bike i have is 16 months and has 6500km on it today , only home-work-home ....imagine the costs if i had done this by car ?
On top we recieve 0,21 euro/ km if we use a bike to come to work , so a no brainer to me.

Took her to a garage and topped up the Ad-Blue. Felt weird being surrounded with HUGE trucks.

That's very cool Hotel California. I just looked at last years stats. Last year I did 932 miles on my electric e-bike. So since I had the Cali (picked end of June 2016) probably saved about 500 miles by using it. A few of my colleagues say I'm "cheating" by using it to ride into work but surely driving in a car is cheating eh?

PLEASE stop posting these Wednesday pictures, Sapto. Some of us are chained to our desks on Wednesdays (and Mondays, Tuesdays, etc, etc,....) whilst wishing we were in our Californias having fun. It is NOT helpful (even though the scenery is wonderful):Depressed:headbang

Tomorrow I will drive 500km with 6 people and our alpine skiing kits in the Cali. I hope we can fit all luggage. The boot is not very large with sixth seat installed.

Hello Tony,
Thank you for your reply. Regular camping sites were closed, we stayed at a nice camper place: Biermuseum / Skihütte
Verkehrsverein “Wald und Tal” Rodt V.o.E.
Tomberg, Rodt 77
B-4780 St.Vith
Great parking place and pub and restaurant on the site.

Nice. Somehow I like this shots of Cali's in the winter months and the rain as much if not more than the simmer ones.

I spent an hour washing ours in the rain.
We had spent a lovely couple of nights at the C&CC site at Oxford with Borris. It was very cold outside so all the roads and motorways had been well gritted. By the time we got home again our Black Cali was a sort of light grey. Reasoning that during the rain the salt would have been softened and also to amuse the neighbours, I washed it.
Oxford C&CC site is very handy for visiting the town. It is actually about a mile to the town centre. About ½ an hour on foot or there are Park & Ride buses from almost opposite the site entrance.
