What have you done with your California today?

aah, stayed there 2 years ago, didn't have a lakeside pitch though. Have you checked out the new bridge?
Yea. The new bridge looks nice. Well engineered too. So should cope with future storms

Cut our sliding door table's leg at my inlaws because back in 2004 they were taller

Cleaned off the bird poo we aquired at Slimbridge this week. We must have been on the flight path of some dive bombing pigeons who even managed to splatter the side of the pop top canvas

We attached a horse trailer for the first time!! We have the factory fitted removable tow bar, and a little concerned as we ordered the Cali lowered which does make a slight difference to the riding level of the trailer. The Cali is the 204 4motion which I am so glad for as when towing, it felt sure footed and more than strong enough.

I have to say, after only two weeks of owning a Cali and I absolutely love this vehicle!!!!

Looks great - you weren’t tempted by a Candy white two tone top to match?!

Good thinking, that would look cool. I actually have my eyes on a black and silver horse trailer to match but after paying for the Cali, I think I need to wait a bit before the next four wheeled expense.

Wow youre brave - I did consider when ordering whether this would be a good idea (we have horses) but decided the whole rig would be too long for my towing abilities & couldnt stand the mess in the Cali - how are you finding combining the 2 ?!

Hopefully cured the sagging and wobbly opening and lowering of the pop top once and for all.

Seemed the emergency pressure release on the new pump wasn't closed fully after all. Although I thought I had tightened it before installing.

This involved taking the headlining out once again, because I wanted to make sure there was no air trapped in the hydraulic cilinders from changing one.
Also checking the colour of the hydraulic fluid, because I emptied the changed hydraulic cilinder, and I found a little black debris in it, after a few days of resting:

Nothing worrying at the moment.

Now let's see how the roof will behave if I get the chance to go camping again without all the stupid regulations and limitations.

Hey Jenny, it’s early days at the moment, but I’m not a keen tower anyway. I think it’s ok on the motorway but around the country roads near me, I drive very gingerly, and I am hopeless at manoeuvring backwards. It doesn’t help that the wheels protrude beyond the Cali each side.
The mess in the Cali, yes you’re right. I can see I’m going to need over mats when we’re in and out with dirty boots.
We did buy our Cali to be many things, home from home, towing vehicle, mobile tack room and base for my daughter when at shows, holiday home, office, den for kids sleepovers, day to day runaround, van for diy materials, dump runs etc. What other vehicle can do all of this?

Yes you're right what other vehicle could do all that!
I towed for about 4 years with a Navara with boot on which was a very long set up & no rear visibility - I never did quite get to grips with the reversing malarky! Round our way its all country lanes so just couldnt bring myself to take the plunge with the Cali but maybe in a few years albeit we dont have 4WD on our Coast. So for now Im just keeping the lorrry & deferring the decision until next year by which time my daughter might have lost interest! although shes 20 now & no sign - we did look into getting her the tow vehicle but the Insurance & then petrol worked out more than the cost of keeping the lorry - its all swings & roundabouts isnt it, I think for me Im using my Cali as such an escape I dont want all the usual mess at home of horses, dogs, cats, children, husband!!!

We tow with the cali and have no problems with handling the rig but we are ex caravaners of many years and this is easier. In reality the cali is only like handling a landcruiser.
The only issue is the mess so we dont routinely use it only for trips and events. Also the tail gat wont fully open with the trailer on which can just about be worked around. Decent seat covers, rubber mats and regular cleaning are pretty essential. We have a yeti that does local towing and regular horse duty and is the usual tip.

Yes it makes total sense to use it & Im all for saving pennies, so maybe once its lost its sparkle!
You see I wouldnt even have considered about the tailgate so thats useful to know thank you.
Its not so much the driving the set up, its the scraping of the hedgerows along the sides!!
