What you listening to in your cali?

We rented a Cali last September and to my delight it had the Dynaudio upgrade. I prepared a Tidal off-line playlist on my iPad a few days before and off we went. The sound was very good and the hi-res Tidal source was so enjoyable. (If you have never heard of Tidal, it's like Spotify but High resolution)

On our return we quickly realised that we need to create a 'Cali Playlist' of tracks that we both enjoy. Now, months later, we often remark when we hear a track we both like, "that's one for the Cali Playlist".

So, everyone, what would be your number one suggestion for our list? You are allowed to suggest one track only.

The title track from Graceland by Paul Simon. Probably the best pop song ever written.

“Out In The Fields.” Gary Moore and Phil Lynott

Excellent. That version reminded me of 'Faster' from Within Temptation. That one was accepted and is now on our list. Thankee!

Okay, That one made it too but surely, those 'Shoes with Diamonds on their soles' walk all over Graceland?

Well, the whole album is great so it's difficult to choose just one, but the Graceland lyrics describe a road trip - ideal for the Cali would say.

California Dreamin' is a great great sound.

But is Dylan's "I want you" even better??

Bob: I was all set to say no because he whines like a dodgy differential. BUT... I was over-ruled by the family to that's in. Thankee.

As mine says on the back "Hotel California" one of mine all time favorite songs from The Eagels!
Actully my all time favorite song is "in the air tonight" from Phil Collins but the Cali has no wings  and that song goes about a whole different story.... :shocked
Especialy the part in hotel california that goes : "...you can check out any time you want , but you can never leave..." Says it all about the Cali ! :D
Sorry, too obvious and too familiar. Like Bohemian Rhapsody... even Queen were sick of it in the end.

London symphonic ....... sibelius, Karelia suite...... the best thing to come out of Finland before Nokia and savusilakka

Failing that....

Pink floyd and Prodigy
Now then. You have opened up a new playlist possibility with Sibelius, Swivelled-seat Playlist... and that one is on it. Thankee.

As the late great Duke Ellington once pointed out.
"There's are simply two kinds of music....good music and the other kind".
As long as I'm surrounded by the good stuff, I'm a happy camper
There is good and not-so-good in all forms of music I find. EXCEPT RAP!

American Pie - Don McLean
A great song and a great singalong chorus

Swivelled-seat playlist ... I like that.

I have a driving playlist, mostly modern, lots of tock, some reggae.....

and a "warm and snug".... mostly soft classics, after dinner, glass of wine before making the bed up.....

Nearly always starting with "Spiegel I'm Spiegel"... or Alfie Bow "Bring him home"..... or Kirov with "Steppes of central Asia'..... the first three tracks on the playlist before going to shuffle. Lovely. Warm, snug, glass of wine and that sense of peace that only a true feeling of freedom and self-sufficiency can bring.

Now I'm homesick for Alfie .... just want to jump in and go somewhere :(

Obviously listened through Bluetooth headphones when camping.
1) Live at Leeds, The Who, Magic Bus
2) Led Zeppelin, Rock & Roll, plus almost anything else they played. Remember listening live to The Yardbirds at Eel Pie Island pre LZ in the late 60's
3) The Eagles HC if feeling melancholy
4) Anything Lynard Skynard (they died too young)
5) Peter Frampton ( live "if you feel like i do"
6) Gustov Holst The Planets
7) César Franck Symphony in D ( feeling very melancholy)

Magic bus is a shoe-in. In fact, that has been added to some of my other playlists as well. Bravo, Sir! your other suggestion of Cesar Franck has been added to the 'Swivelled-Seat' Playlist. Thankee.

Agreed. Great song, perfect sing-a-long on a beach with a guitar, but not quite right for a Cali Playlist, I feel. Sorry.

I have mellowed in my old age, gone are the days of Nine Inch Nails and alternative music.

Now there is nothing I love more in the van than a couple of Passenger albums. :) Led Zepp is always good though ;)
A Passenger track then - which do you suggest?

But seriously, for my last Cali trip on Earth it would have to be Louis Armstrong: We Have All The Time In The World and What A Wonderful World.
Brilliant. Both firmly on the CaliList. Thankee. Liked these suggestions much more than Puff the Magic Dragon. See.. you did know what we were on about.

I find a bit of Xavier Rudd really good. He's an Australian multi instrumentalist and really talented.

We played 'Follow the Sun' by him and he's now on our list. Bravo brother!
