There is some reason to be optimistic for the UK. If the growth factor of the virus is 1.15, then we are 7 days behind France on the curve and 20 days behind Italy. However, if the growth factor is 1.25 we are just 3 days behind France and 11 days behind Italy. (Both France and Italy have a similar size of population to the UK).

I think the uk figures are skewed, & would suggest that whilst London is 2 weeks behind Italy, Scotland, Wales & most of the rest of England is another 2 weeks further behind.
The impact of thousands of infected Londoners dashing out to second homes has yet to hit.

Will I be able to keep a vet appointment?

Hi thought I’d share an update on the vet situation, our local one closed indefinitely as of yesterday

Hope your pet is OK

I don’t suppose the UK figures are any more skewed than France and Italy. In France the epicentre is Paris, and in Italy, Milan/Bergamo. For that reason, I think it is a reasonable comparison. But not San Marino which should probably be included with Italy.

Thank you. Our vet is open and our appointment is at 10.45. The website ask us to phone on arrival and wait in our car until called.

Meg stopped using her nearside rear paw 22 days ago. She’s had several x-rays showing her hip and knee fine and ankle indeterminate. Her ankle is swollen. We hope it is soft tissue which will mend with time and rest but fear there may be a small chip or foreign body inside.

She’s been on antibiotics and anti inflammatory for three weeks.

I also need to collect some tablets for my parents’ 18 year old border terrier. Mum phoned me this morning and told me not to bother as Percy is “fading fast”. I insisted that for the sake of £60 she should not give up on him.

I expect there will be a garden burial before the end of the week. I wonder if we will be able to share the moment by FaceTime?

Good luck with the dogs, fingers crossed for your little border, hope he can hang in there a little while longer, they are tough little dogs.

Sorry to hear that Meg isn’t improving & also of Percy, we wish them both well.

If not prohibited in time. Which in many countries already done.
By "stay at home" authorities mean, the place you are registered at.

It has indeed been made quite clear through Q&A of UK ministers that "stay at home" in this respect means at your normal principal residence. (In the UK you are not required to "register" where you live with the authorities, as unlike many countries we don't have a mandatory national registration system, national ID cards etc. Quite a few people have multiple residences, but should be quite able to decide which is their principal one.)

So, apparently Prince Charles has tested positive! Two questions, how has he been tested? Why is he at Balmoral, his country home? Why has he not followed official advice and remained at home?

Likewise our vet is open for pre-booked appointments but apparently the animal is admitted to see the vet and the owner waits in the car park! If it is very serious and the animal won't recover then they are allowed in too. Our old BT had to be PTS a couple of months ago age 16. It broke our hearts. He was my son's 10th birthday present and was an incredibly brave and stoic little dog who lived for his young master. So sad when they are old or ill. Fingers crossed for Meg and Percy.

Because he is heir to the throne. Royal family do as they please.

Totally agree.
Expect a wave of attention seeking minor celbs, all claiming they have it, badge of honour.

Is it not normal procedure in times of crisis for the Royals to seperate. Continuity of the firm so that they are not all struck down.

It’s normal for them in everyday life, they don’t all live together in one house. They each have at least one house/cottage/castle or more to reside in.

Frankly I think being in Scotland when the country is in lockdown demonstrates the same level of royal clumsiness as Andrew doing a clog dance.

Isn't Wales his home?
