Hi everyone, I've ordered my Coast without this option (our little girls will be in pop top and I don't think they'll be bothered about it) However now I'm thinking should I get it anyway as everyone seems to be going with this option so it would probably to help if i ever sell on ?
Can you even change the spec 2 weeks after ordering ?
Interested in people thoughts, thanks

I have it and do not use it. More possible leaking/weak points. It was with the purchase, shouldn’t have chosen it myself.

Our Ocean has it - no issues re-water ingress.

What is the panoramic view option if I may ask?

Don't see why there's a more risk of water ingress , the zipper is nice hidden behind a flap

Ah, thanks, I figured the 'panoramic view' was the front window. I guess you gotta give it a fancy name if you charge hundreds for it ;-).

Well, we had it in our T4. We didn't have it in our T5 untill recently when we had the roof corrosion fixed and we got a new T6 canvas for free, including the front 'window'.We love it. For several reasons. It may not seem a big deal, but man I found it so annoying that we couldnt get flies and other insects out of the pop top easily when we didnt have the front window. Also, imho it adds a more roomy/spacious feel to the van when you sit in it and can open the front window. And last but not least...

Waking up to this...., a beach, lake, starry night, or whatever view your prefer is priceless. Or, if you are buying from VW, expensive. ;-) But worth it if you ask me. Your kids might like it. I know mine do.

Having 2 young girls myself, i know my 2 would of loved to have a front window to look out of. The Beach and Coast only has the side windows and I would 100% add it if i were able too.

And yes, you should be able to add it if you only ordered a few weeks ago.

For me it was an absolute definite must have - just look at the option of opening right up to those views - I altered my order a week after placing by cancelling the Climatronic which the dealer rang through & then sent me a new order form confirming the alteration. Seeing as they havent even been allocated a build week I dont think there will be an issue altering for some time yet!!

£270 extra on £50k? Definitely. Replace the entire canvas £800 ish. I know we all have a limit we need to stick to but the kids will love it.

The zip is the waterproof type and it has an external flap.

No brainer, top of my list for my next Cali which will be a Coast as we loved it in our Ocean, dealer should be able to add to your order.

I’ve had our Cali for 11 years with the normal front window.
I cannot possibly imagine what I would want that for. It’s hundreds for a pointless zip.

Lambeth Cali the Coast doesn't have a front window at all just side ones (unless.you spec it )

Well it's no panoromic opening for us, tried to change it today and the dealer said I can't unless I want to pay £1k October increase as well (ordered it end to September)

I always used a liner and topper (light sleeper so wanted both to cut out noise as well as the light / heat insulation). So I would have only ordered it for potential resale value. But I don’t think it would make that much difference. You will still love your Cali without. And if it’s that important then the extra £1k is not a lot compared to what you’ve already paid...

True! But I'm not prepared to pay 1.2k for it, we are not bothered about it, just for resale really .. although we are not planning to sell it for about 10 years anyway by which time it will need new bellows I imagine

I yes we will have a topper as the girls will be in it

Wow. I’m really surprised at that.

Are you dealing with an experienced salesman or someone new to the business that just can’t be bothered?

Has anyone else on here been told they have to pay the new list price when they want to make a small amendment to their order after a cost increase?

Im so surprised - I ordered mine 30-9-20 for old price - then on 7-10-20 informed Dealer following test drive I now had better understanding of Climatronic option & wanted to cancel it as thought unnecessary - all done through email he simply phoned it to VW then sent me the new order price confirmation with that option deleted - I really think your dealer is wrong telling you that as they havent even got a build week yet. I was told when I first ordered & asked if there was any slight variation you could alter & Ive seen posts on here that state the same - crikey youve just ordered a £50k vehicle !

I know I am wondering the same..

Did you get the 10% discount on full price? I'm wondering if it's because I got that?

Ask to speak to the Dealer Principal.

A lot of people make slight tweaks to their orders, it doesn't mean you suddenly pay a higher price. They just have to fiddle their numbers in the VW system, they just dream up the prices anyway!

Give them a call :thumb
