Are prices due to crash?

To put it into perspective if the Ukrainian population can survive days, weeks or months without adequate electric power, water and gas I'm sure we can survive a few hours of blackout.
and a disgrace to our nation that we have Food and now warm bank in the UK.

yes but we need electricity to keep internet routers and laptops functioning so we won't stop posting crap on vwcali forum or know who the current PM actually is

We managed back in the 70s with power cuts and the 3 day week, pre-internet, oh and no food banks, Sky or mobile phones.

True, but the open fire didn't need any gas/ electric & the landline still worked due to huge batteries at the local telephone exchange.
Where we used to go & snare rabbits didn't have a housing estate on it either!

But what I miserable, cold and dreary time that was. I remember it well as a wee nipper.

I felt the potential outcome meant I'd rather it wasn't in the house or attached garage while I slept.

I do get that.
All our E-bikes and battery stuff is repowered in a shed separate from the house.
Additional battery systems for the house Solar, installed outside of the property in a dedicated area seems sensible.
As said before, the likes of the Buzz with bi-directional charging make for an interesting case.

Ha, a phone at home? We didn't have one, my parents thought it needless extravagance. If I wanted to call my friends I had to walk a quarter mile to the phone box with some coins. Which always evokes for me that heady mixed scent of bakelite and stale urine.

That bakelite smell was nothing to do with me ...

Or waiting at the public phone box for the call from a rich friend who had a home phone.

Mine too. I asked a girl out for the first time from the public phone 1/2 mile from the house. I can still smell the urine that pervaded the phone box 45 years later. Kids these days don't know how good they have it.

We’d been thinking about solar panels, kind of missed time I suspect.
Not sure I would have any large lithium battery storage in the main building personally in case of battery failure and thermal runaway. This is a case in point
that was just an ebike.
I'm more worried about charging my vehicle battery in the garage then these two.

Saying that, someone who works for me had a garage fire which resulted from a cheap Chinese USB charger left plugged in. Small device

Battery temperature is currently 19 degrees.

But has your exchange still got the battery backup? I was involved years ago in removing them from a number of London exchanges & reconfiguring the areas.

Fortunately yes. Tested during a recent electricity outage that included local exchange.

We had no central heating in our council house in Harefield. Ice on the inside of my bedroom window on winter mornings (1963 was cold!) No phone and roast chicken was a rare luxury. Never felt deprived as a kid :)

If/when there are blackouts this winter, some of might be concerned about how we store our eggs :thumb

Just checked our GC on Webuyany car as had a text to say they had improved their offer - its bounced back up £9.5k

When we had the powers cuts earlier this year, the mobiles all failed too. Not much help. You suddenly realise how much you depend on the internet and mobile signal.

I keep a "proper phone" just in case. Mind you that'll only be any good if the other end has one!
Might be a few EV owners late for work if they can't charge.
