Are prices due to crash?

the white one does look good for some reason - sits well on those alloys which just look really clean perhaps.

it will be interesting to see if there is a bit of a correction in some asking prices. i saw a private 2019 with all the toys advertised at 41500 (which did sell), but makes the high 40s ones look optimistic.

If a dealer is selling at 43000 with warranty then private for similar should be around 39-40 would be my guess. Winter might soften prices further perhaps.

it does look great....

as you say - its strange how there are different places for the californias to be shown on autotrader ! really strange.

to my eye its the dealer ones that are advertised at reasonable prices...... i guess private will follow (if they want to sell)

I would take WBAC prices with a pinch of salt, they're not interested in buying campervans at the end of summer same as soft tops. Hence ridiculous low pricing.
Agree.....its a computer algorithm, and they also need to make money.

A colleague had a Nissan Leaf....took it down to WBAC and they knocked £2000 off the quote price and offered £4600. She asked me, and I said too low. So she put it on Autotrader at £7500 and had people queueing up for it, and sold it on the day of the advert for the asking price.

Similarly WBAC offered £68k for my Defender but I sold it to a dealer for £76k (who chased me for it), who then put it up for £85k

Are the dealer ones actually available, or sold…” but don’t worry we have some more due in’. This happens alot with used sales at non VW dealers.
yes, the dealer ones are available it seems - I’m looking into one.

Dealer - Ocean 204 DSG 4motion 2016 for £39,995... (76k miles though)

Blackberry was a little maramite. Looks like its had a hard life and no extras or additional items that an individual owner would add, so my guess would be an ex-rental.

Surprising - I thought the blackberry colour is one of the better ones and hence sought after?

Looks like it has Nav and awning. What options are really missing?

Agree the eg water filler black plastic looks like it has seen a lot of sun and is faded.

Aren't rentals usually 150ps & 2WD - and sometimes manual (and often red!)? Surprised if any rental outfit bothered to spend the extra on 4motion.

Just seen the VWCC sticker so probably not....looks a little sterlised at first glance. The vehicle should be on here somewhere.

Looks ok to me, fairly tidy decent price and mileage isn’t an issue or excessive for an 8 yr old van. Colour is in the eye of the beholder, may not be the most popular but dont think it’s an issue either. You will often find that options arent listed but are fitted so you may find there’s more on it - diff lock would be good on a 4mo and towbar may be useful, but nothing major missing. It may have been a rental in the past but I don’t see a reason to think so, and I’m not sure it’s a problem anyway - they are often well maintained and you want a full service record, and condition now is more important anyway. And the forum sticker suggests that at least one of the later owners is/was a member. Nothing here that would stop me taking a closer look.

@ajdowson thank for the heads up on those Cali's last week..... i have a deposit down on that white one.... its essentially been a one owner vehicle... he knew the original owner and bought it off him to use himself over summer with family then move on..... its been serviced every year - has full detailed invoices too.

Nice one Mark - well done. It looks really smart.

Any wriggle room in the price? Did it come with a good warranty?

bit of wiggle yea... and 'ok' on trade in of my current daily... an ok warranty (and is upgradable if i chose) overall and so far - everything pointing the right direction.

the fact its the 150HP DSG gives me reasonable confidence too... albeit obv stuff can happen.

You won’t go far wrong with that, exciting, I’m sure you’ll love it.

thanks ! looking forward to it.

I've looked at 'Transporters' on and off for a number of years... and last year got close to buying one - I also discovered the California then..... my situation/needs changed last year, and i just bought a nice daily... but fast forward a year and my situation has changed... again ! and i can now see the need/justification for one.

I'm looking forward to finally trying one... I have had full sized campers for~15 years previously... sold our last one ~2 years ago... but really wouldn't get the use out of a full size now

if you are coming from a motor home you may have to adjust to the Cali quirks, they are tiny inside and you have to play Tetris with all your belongings just to make a coffee, but they are fabulous little vans.

Been couple of years now…… so I’ve semi forgot about the space.

But I haven’t forgot about the major damp issues :-(

Blackberry is the rarest colour (the van is black in certain light and amazing purple in other light) and that 4motion has diff lock too. High mileage though - but that's reflected in the price.

Keeping half an eye on prices and my guess at valuations.

How are they doing?

“T5: £22k - £25k”

Think the first one might get more interest is they removed the bonnet stripes & swap opening photo that shows more of the van.
I wonder what the depreciation is on that van. £26k for a 2007 SE. Anyone know what the new price was back then?

Dunno but I paid £44k for my 180 SE, in 2015 as a six months old ex demo. They're almost as good as money in the bank.

April 2008 prices shown below....

Think van in question is 130 manual so £35k in 08. Probably £32k in 07? So not a bad ownership proposition losing £6k for 97k miles and 16 years.

Or using inflation calculator £57k - £64k in Aug 24
So using some simple maths. A £64k Cali is double the 2007 price therefore if it loses £12k over the next 17 years it will still be worth £52k in 2040?

I wonder what the Multivan based Cali will be worth by then.
More or less than a T6?
