I’ve read around a bit about the known quirks of the Cali DSG box.

Mine has the usual niggles off the line and reversing up hills.

What I haven’t read about yet is an occasional flat spot after setting off.

I’ll pull away fine, then when in second gear, the throttle response drops off completely, as if there is little/no fuelling.

It’s irritating at best, downright unnerving when it happens when I need to build speed quickly.

I’ve owned and driven PDK and DSG cars before, so this isn’t unfamiliarity with the breed.

Is this a known quirk?

Sounds faulty to me. Mine pulls away perfectly every time.

When did you have the oil changed last?

I would request VW for a software update. Two things I would do:
1. There is a method to reset the dsg. If you search on these forums you should find the method to reset. Then drive and see if the problem persists.
2. Failing 1, mention to VW and request VW to run a software update FOC.

If you're still unhappy, then a remap of just the DSG may help.

Edit, see post 15 on thread here. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/to...&share_fid=34937&share_type=t&link_source=app

You can reset the DSG clutch bite point / reset the learning function by:

turn ignition on (do not start the van)
press the accelerator full down & hold for 20 seconds
the gearbox may make a noise
you feel a click through the accelerator pedal.
Start the van and drive normally.

Get VW to check oil level, once had a Passat, brand new, company car, no power steering fluid and only half level of gearbox oil
