Has anyone had any issues with google maps ,after driving for 30 mins the map image starts breaking up this is on the head unit screen only?
You can have both ;-)Many others have reported this issue, I’m sure a search will pull up the threads. Personally have not experienced an issue using an iPhone XR, with latest IOS version installed.
I do tend to use the VW maps quiet a bit as like a map shown on the digital cockpit.
Mine happens constantly after 5-10 mins driving. I have to press the ‘app’ button to reset it to normal.
Van is booked in at VW on Wednesday hoping for a fix on the day. As heading to Spain next month in the van and don’t fancy having to continuously reset the sat nav.

Will do. Not been on the forum for a few months so thought it was just mine until seeing this threadLet us know how you get on at VW. I’ve been following this issue since November and not heard of anyone getting a fix so far. I had a new over-the-air software update today so I’m hoping that contains a fix but not optimistic.

Interested to see if you get a fix. We had our van into VW Sheffield just over a week ago, and they raised a technical query with VW. The answer that came back 3 days later was that a software update was being prepared, due for release late April. Sheffield have kept our job card open until this happens. See if you get the same story?!Mine happens constantly after 5-10 mins driving. I have to press the ‘app’ button to reset it to normal.

Doubt that the OTA update will fix it. VW say theyre working on a software upgrade due in 6-8 weeks.Let us know how you get on at VW. I’m getting used to Apple Maps these days, not too bad! Many others have reported this issue, I’m sure a search will pull up the threads. Personally have not experienced an issue using an iPhone XR, with latest IOS version installed.

The screen breaks up on GM and Waze for us. I don’t think the problem is universal, but don’t know why. We have the most up to date software, firmware, both on the head unit and the SOS system (which communicates with the head unit). Hopefully VW solve the puzzle!
See this thread .. similar issues.Has anyone had any issues with google maps ,after driving for 30 mins the map image starts breaking up this is on the head unit screen only?

I find it happens when using Waze. I just press menu, then back to Waze and it is corrected (for anywhere between 10 mins and infinity)Interested to see if you get a fix. In case it helps - I stressed to the van centre technician that the issue only shows itself when using an active Google route, AND the van is moving. said that so they didn’t say that it’s been in the workshop all day and never faulted! I also gave them some photos so they could share with VW.
Note, If the screen pixelates, and you stop the van, engine running etc. for 5-10 minutes, the screen goes back to normal. It’s turning the van that it cant cope with.
Yes. Feedback was its a known fault which they can’t sort yet. But they will contact me once VW release the fox.Out of interest, did VW take a look at this issue today, and what was the feedback?
VW has already released the foxYes. Feedback was its a known fault which they can’t sort yet. But they will contact me once VW release the fox.
I’ll let you know if VW Sheffield get in touch with us.Yes. Feedback was its a known fault which they can’t sort yet. But they will contact me once VW release the fox.
How??? Been trying to do that and not found out how.You can have both ;-)
after talking to my local vw garage they said using wfi rather than a lead stops the issue, not tried it yet but we will seeHad this issue for months. For both Waze and google maps. Solution until there is an update is to use Apple Maps which is actually pretty good these days, it doesn’t suffer the same issue.
Mine did the same initially and then almost disappeared after I updated to IOS 16.2 early this year, reappearing only when I was on windy mountain passes with reduced phone coverage. On my latest trip yesterday it started to happen more often. Now I'm curious to see what will happen when I upgrade to IOS 16.3.1.Mine happens constantly after 5-10 mins driving. I have to press the ‘app’ button to reset it to normal.
