Pigeon Poo !!!

Our van has been splattered with a lot of pigeon poo lately and I’m considering getting a van cover like this one when parked up at home to help protect the paintwork. I’d be keen to hear if others have found a decent cover that fits well and holds up in the wind. Any recommendations or advice would be much appreciated!

I think covers are a double edged sword.
they can protect from bird poo, but can also rub, and if the cover is put on while the car is wet, particulary if followed by hot weather, i have seen instances of paint being marked.
similar to a suction mounted CB ariel (which in my case luckily polished out after some hard work)
maybe a good wash and some polish and then sealant / protector.
i tend to check daily or throughout the day, and wipe / wash off if i find any of the damn bird poo

We use the Maypole cover and found it to be extremely good. Also have bird strikes and a lot of leaf droppage. Has stood up well in windy conditions. Zipped sides make access easy-and my technique to put the cover on via the awning side ensures it pulls on fine. It started as a two person technique but I can do it solo now, much to my wife’s delight. Straps front and back keeps it tight.
I feel it all outweighs the hassle of cleaning the roof with more likely damage from bird muck.

Problem with cover is what you do with it when covered in bird poo, try and clean it (well then you may as well just clean roof), leave it and then you are handling poo (possibly breathing it in very dangerous to your health).
Get a good wax-polish on the van and then hop up on tyres/bike rack each time and quick wipe off.
I climb all over my 2.5m t6.1 getting the dead flies off (more of a nightmare than bird poo)

If you already have a concrete or similar base and DIY possibly cheaper, really depends how the posts are set.

I'd just get a decent coat of wax/polish on it and then you don't need to worry so much.
A good wax/polish will protect the paintwork until you wash the car to remove said poop!
