Please may I ask which universal dog guard you have which fits the cali? Thank youWe have a smallish Rhodesian Ridgeback (only 40kg!) - he travels and sleeps on the rear 'parcel shelf' which we have the Brandrup protective cover on. We also have a universal dog guard attached to the headrests of the bench seat preventing him coming forward in an accident. He travels and sleeps there comfortably and will happily lie there in the sun with the back open and it leaves us with a 'boot' space underneath for bags.
Please may I ask which universal dog guard you have which fits the cali? Thank you

Hi,Our retriever Finley sleeps on the front seats of our Beach. We built a removable plywood bridge between the seats so he has the full card width. (We sleep downstairs.)

This is an interesting idea. Our German Pointer is too big to curl up on the front seat so I wondered about this as an option, or whether we can kill 2 birds with one stone and put a 12V electric cool box here for the dogs raw food. Would that work do you think? Here you go. There are two batons under the shelf to prevent it from sliding sideways.

This is an update on my earlier post. I got a Khynam K9 quick erect kennel a couple of years ago, and now normally use this when I am abroad.....its cooler at night, and also provides a home in the day if I am away from the van for an hour or two.....its the best option I have come up withI have just come back from a month in Spain. This time my golden retreiver dog travelled in the middle section of the van connected to a seat belt via her lead and a harness, and this worked well. She slept downstairs with me upstairs most of the time, and on the few occasions when I slept downstairs there is just room at the bottom of the bed for her to sleep on the floor. Interestingly when it got hot, she was happier outside in the shade than in the quick erect awning, so I did not use this most of the time.....but then we had hardly any rain!
When our van finally arrives, we plan to use a collapsible pen. It can be used to contain boys!!!

Very much resisting, losing Ben hurt a lot and I know it sounds silly to say it, took me months getting used to him not being by side at all times.Oh he was lovely looking , sorry if he's not with you anymore - will you get another dog ?
I know what you mean... Hugos part of our family , however to get around when we cant take him with us we are going to try Housesitters , there is ( maybe you already have seen this ) a web site which has become very popular with dog owners called www.trustedhousesitters.com and there you can find people to look after your house and dog, whom you can trust with both . We are going to give this a go.Very much resisting, losing Ben hurt a lot and I know it sounds silly to say it, took me months getting used to him not being by side at all times.
We have decided to go more places and take spontaneous trips without the worry of a dog. but never say never. I very nearly buckled when Tom posted his Collie pics a few months..
