service costs oil change

The fact that the question comes up repeatedly over many many years and the BS with timing belts, 180 BI turbo oil use / EGR, EGR failure, DPF issues, sagging hydraulic roof, faulty emergency button, poor media interface, faulty touch screens for several example etc, which VW flat blank deny exist at all ! would imply that peoples experience with lots of VW franchises are not the best experience they could have had from a premium cost / customer perspective. (Cali) nor does the T6 forum bear out a pleasant experience when issues are called into question.
VW U.K. defend the clear and unequivocal BS, they choose to spout in support of their corporate action, including Diesel gate ! with the threat of loss of warranty / good will is all you need to know.
IMO use a dealer only when you need to (caveat when you trust them, there are one or two) if you can get a similar mediocre service elsewhere why pay the Premium?

Funnily enough VW U.K. look like they will remove a lot of the BS by preventing certain (most existing) Franchises from selling the Cali brand ongoing!
I’m sure those franchises will similarly thank VW for the reciprocating agreement for their massive payments over those periods where they carried the VW brand and the BS that Brand imparted .
Times are a changing do what YOU need to do

But VW give a 2yr Warranty on their work be it a repair or a service. How many Independents do?
That’s actually not true, warranty work does not carry a two year warranty unless you make a financial contribution.

Use your Cali, look after it, service it (oil) yearly and enjoy

So basically a Franchise, and I'm sure they had to pay Mercedes to offer those services.
No, not a franchise, they pay for the "star" diagnostic Licence from Stuttgart bypassing the UK Franchise (robbing b'stards). The technicians are all mercedes trained, and have skills that I have known franchise dealers to sub contract to.

hi just been quoted £410 for a oil change visual check and mot what's everyone's thoughts?
£80 for 8 litres of oil (Castro Edge LL)
£20 for OEM oil filter and sump plug
£100 one hour of labour,,which is more than enough

So £200 top price, any more than that then you are paying through the nose.

Missing a few things from that list...... I went to a new LR service centre opening a few years back. It cost £4.5m to build and then had a further £850k fitout for the garage equipment.

£100 a hour to include wages / insurance / rent / rates / customer service / investment / disposal etc

I paid £586.94 for third annual service at 28,000 miles which included a Haldex oil change and brake fluid change, and a couple of software updates.
Too much ? Probably, but I’ve found Marshalls Lincoln to be pretty good and I want to keep a full main dealer service history.
Pays your money and makes your choice I guess

I have always found it cheaper to book online.
I prefer to use main dealer for servicing and local VW specialist for repairs as my local VW dealer charges £200 per hour labour.

Don’t forget the poor VW franchisee pay to have the VW logo over the door, that adds £100 an hour to the cost simply paid to VW (who set the rates for parts Labour , to be paid to VW U.K. ) !
VW milk the system for all its worth at the expense of the loyal customer !
Why ? because they can, the repeat figures & threat of non warranties back it up

The “labour” part of the invoice was £326.19. The rest was parts.
I don’t doubt for one minute it would have been cheaper at an independent.
That’s the choice for owners to make. I like to have a main dealer service history, some owners aren’t bothered, some do all their own servicing. All good.
At this moment of time I don’t have a service plan, a warranty or breakdown cover. I can have all three in a package for £32.25 a month if I wait until Nov 18 for the 25% off All in Warranty and Service offer. I’d have to be mad not to so that means I’m sticking with main dealers.

I'm glad I have 5 free services included with the van.

Is there a limit on age or mileage on that offer - do you have a link @Mansfieldman750

Yes LR are good at glitz and glamour but when it comes down to it they produce a product that under performs poor engines and terrible reliability issues

Is there similar for vehicles that were / are covered but are now greater than six years old, eg 2017 ?

many thanks, shame it doesnt include the roadside assistance as well
