Sliding door problems

When I fitted the other control unit I relocated it to behind the trim panel. Got loads of insulation in there so hopefully that will soak up any water. Worked so far......Glad you got it sorted

Before I thought of swapping the control unit from the other door, I bought a second hand unit from camper van bits. It didn't work , I think because it's for a T6 rather than T5......If anyone has a genuine use for it they can have it for the price of postage...number on it is 7E0 959 243 D

Interesting. According to Ebay they're the same but I think you're right. Do you know the correct part number just out of interest?

Yea, I know.... Original one and one I swapped from other side was 7H0 959 243 G......when I did a VCDS scan, it knew the other module was there but couldn't communicate with it. I think they changed the can-bus around the time my van was made.........Incidentally I never found where the water leaked into that corner either, put it down to condensation.

A question that's doing my head in.....Can any of you very clever people tell me how the sliding door control module communicates with the module inside the sliding door?..is it wireless or some kind of one wire k-line

Also, where does the door module get its power source from and what is the function of the wires that run across the top runner, are they just to record door position or do they also provide communication & power. Can't get this information from the wiring diagram, any answers very much appreciated. (2005 T5 7H0)

Just re-read this thread. Have we not established there is no module inside the door?
I’m still not entirely sure what the exact issue is?

Surely any mechanism related to a motorised door will be van (not door based) and mounted on/near any of the three tracks that support the door?

If you follow the wire from the pinch sensor for example, it goes to an electronic sender unit inside the door. That signal must be communicated when the door is open. So that rules out the contract strip. The electric unit is described on wiring diagrams as door sender unit. Still confused as to how it sends though.

Yea sorry forgot, issue is door not operating and a vcds code that says something like "fault in circuit, no communication with sliding door.....picture below is the same electronic thing that is inside my door.
