Interesting. According to Ebay they're the same but I think you're right. Do you know the correct part number just out of interest? Before I thought of swapping the control unit from the other door, I bought a second hand unit from camper van bits. It didn't work , I think because it's for a T6 rather than T5......If anyone has a genuine use for it they can have it for the price of postage...number on it is 7E0 959 243 D
Also, where does the door module get its power source from and what is the function of the wires that run across the top runner, are they just to record door position or do they also provide communication & power. Can't get this information from the wiring diagram, any answers very much appreciated. (2005 T5 7H0)A question that's doing my head in.....Can any of you very clever people tell me how the sliding door control module communicates with the module inside the sliding door?..is it wireless or some kind of one wire k-line
I can understand those connectors can be used when the door is closed but when it is Open and you use the External handle to close how does it work then?
Glad you got it fixed, can you tell us the name/details of the company that fixed it?When my electric door broke it was a nightmare. In the end I googled auto electricians and found a great outfit that regularly fixed VW sliding doors. They were a godsend. They even gave me the choice of waiting for the part or offered to stick one together from parts they had lying around from other jobs. I chose to do that. 1 year on it’s still working. In South London so no good to you.
It’s hell trying to find the module. I’ve got bits of cracked rear panels where I was desperately pulling stuff apart. I was driving to the Alps in two weeks and I couldn’t shut the damn door AND I had just traded in my GTI for an electric BMW with 130 mile range so needed the van fixed. It was great leaving it to someone who knew what they were doing!
