Fitted Hexlox bolts to the bike rack. Quicker & easier than I expected!
Such a simple concept for peace of mind.

Nice!

What was the final verdict on sizing? I know there was lots of discussion, and keen to nab them myself (the bolts - not your rack! :D )

M6 x 50mm bolt, thread 1.0.
Pan head to avoid someone trying to remove the bolt with pliers.
I used stainless bolts to avoid any rusting issues. Just make sure the bolts are threaded all the way up the shank.
4mm hex socket, so 4mm Hexlox required.
I didn’t need to even open the tailgate to remove and replace the bolts.
Certainly worth it if you’re keeping your rack on the van!

What kind of additional costs can we expect on something like this in terms of VAT or import tax. The site makes no mention of it. Any insight would be great

Sorry, the two M6 x 50mm, thread 1.0 , are just two regular bolts from the hardware store right ?

So the kit you bought it's for 1 key + 2 hexlox 4mm, i.e. this one : https://hexlox.com/collections/single-hexlox/products/universal-hex-bolt-security

Thank for the tip btw, I'm always worried about the rack... disappearing..

Did you have to pay any additional VAT or import duties on the bin .. presume you got it from Holland
I think so, on the invoice it shows:
21% BTW over
Nothing additional on the UK side.

Hi, yes, that’s the Hexlox kit, 2x4mm + key.
I didn’t order the bolts from Hexlox as I’d seen reports the bolts weren’t threaded all the way, so I ordered off Amazon.
They’re ‘standard’ 1.0 thread pitch, M6x50mm long.
Quite possibly available from a hardware store.

Looks amazing but how much weight is that on the back of the van....
Well tow bar is allowed 100 kg & bike rack 60kg? Nothing in the manual about not using both at the same time. The weight is pretty close to the back axle so not huge leverage. Just need to keep an eye on the overall weight on the back axle.

Fully loaded both racks with a 199 fwd, it's screaming burnouts!
I think the rear suspensions of an Ocean are a bit too soft as Oceans often sag at the rear with little payload.

All within nose weight limits.

Towbar has a limit of 60, and is separate to the tailgate limit. @andyinluton is spot on - the only concern really is on the rear suspension. However keeping in mind the majority of the weight on the back will still be light bulk - we wont be near the 60k. Likewise, the top back will be used for a pushchair and any further bulk.

Handling will no doubt be influenced; but we're not exactly going blasting up Mont Blanc in the winter with this setup... :D

Not specifically bought for the van but I can see it coming in handy. Karcher window vac.

It is very good provided you use it in an upright position. If you tip it too much from the vertical you risk water getting into the fan, and water leaking out everywhere.

I havent, no. Ideally I wont be doing much reversing with this setup and when I do, i'll have my co-pilot to guide me. Atleast then, if it all goes wrong it's her fault, right?!

Be keen to see if there are any options though - but I suspect not, given the effort involved.

Bought the chopping board that fits in the sink from the Club Shop. Expensive but custom fit is good and provides a bit more worksurface. Put my Club stickers on the van.

130 watt portable panel, didnt want roof mounted for several reasons. Got it from amazon for 99 quid with cables and cheap controller but all works fine and managed 3.5 amps this morning in a shaded sun. Good quality build and nice neoprene bag to keep it in
