What have you done with your California today?

Sitting in Dartmouth in the rain, forecast for all day, wondering what to do with the day.

Thanks Mike thats the thread I started ;-) maybe I should read it again. I have used the advise and been to Porlock and Porlock Weir, stopped off at Watchett and we spent the day on the West Somerset Railway so thanks to whomever suggested that.

..me..
So you did

Have a nice day whatever.

Started trying to catalogue ideas and was doing it when you posted.

Board and sail just visible above the chair on the edge of the water. Beercan not visible but behind the chair.... :)

Pre holiday preparations today, general packing and cleaning of kit. Plus breaking out the new toys :):)
  • Fitted Fiamma F45s & rain gutter, very nice quality bit of kit. Mounted easily by myself.
  • Fitted the VW heavy duty rear anti-roll bar. Very heavy bit of kit, that was a bugger to fit alone.
  • Installed Brandrup seat storage pockets, very nice bit of kit - bit on the pricey side but worth it.
  • Fitted window vent on sliding window, then removed again - just want to make sure it fits :)
  • Fitted the Comfortz Leisure thermal windscreen cover, lovely quality bit of kit that real seems to work, removed it again.
Packing begins on Monday, after I visit the F1 here in Budapest :Stig

Enjoying some sunny moments between heavy rain here @Zugspitze Germany.

20170729_094208.jpg Short weekend break to the New Forest. Toms Field is a lovely little campsite. There are a good few camper vans of various shapes and sizes here this week.

We drove through germany on our way to France. A message comes up saying Oil Service within 200km.
What the %#*%#!
My bmw always complains for quite a long time before service is due. Tried a few VW shops but all was full. Contacted Vw Frejus which could take it in the next day on express service. Perfect and it seems the france vw dealers are slightly more friendly than their swedish colleagues.
After two nights in our 3000€/week summerhouse I deciced the beds needed better comfort so I put our Cali Beach "Comfort" madrass on top. A nice improvement, it probably says more about the frenche beds than the cali comfort topper :)

Albert is being rearranged.

Thanks to a host of family issues I have no chance of getting away for more than a few days for the foreseeable future: however one of those family issues is 94 year old Mum in a nursing home 300 miles away so Albert is playing a star role now. My Sister and I are having to visit Mum fairly frequently so we now travel together, our two dogs and me in the van overnight and Sis in a bed and Breakfast somewhere.

This way we can take a few days and make a rubbish journey into an entertaining tour. Britstops come into their own. The last three months I've spent goodness knows how many nights in a pub/hotel car park with Jo in the pub/hotel.

Could this need for oil be related to a recent campaign done on our 2016 Cali to avoid oil leakage ?

Drove to Oxford and Back, from S.Wales.

Glad I wasn't driving down the M5 - judging by all the signs some major delays.

I have just found three days in August when I am unexpectedly free. With that glorious news I booked a return on Eurotunnel.

No idea yet where I'm going or what for but Albert and I are going, escape!

Made a shelf for the little TV / DVD player for the kids to watch a film when away. Made from MDF that fits above the cab and allows the TV to stand. Can be watched from up or downstairs. Stores behind the front seats and acts as a divider for luggage in the cabin.

Nothing for ages. Getting withdrawal symptoms. We just returned from a family holiday to California which my husband booked before we got the Cali, and I was gutted not to be able to do a France holiday in the van. I'll have to wait till funds recover now. We have a trip to North Berwick to meet Scottish chums planned for next week though - hurrah!
