What have you done with your California today?

Washed it and found scratches on drivers door that are new, some !***! as it looked more like done by hand than usual trolley/door banging.

Will it ever stop?
All that vandalism for no reason!

Our has been keyed a couple of times, didn't notice at first as it's a silver car.
Our last cali got done in an Asia car park when parked away from most other cars! They did it front to back, thankfully not deep enough to warrant a body shop trip.

Today is empty the van day, just come back from the Vale of Pickering. It a very nice site.

Drove husband to airport, went shopping - mainly wine. Very pleased that I parked the van in our underground garage on 1st try: roadway a bit narrow, walls everywhere and limited garage entrance with a slight rise that I had to accelerate to get over without going so fast that I catch the wing mirrors on the door.van.jpgvan2.jpg

So much space to park into.

Just kidding.

Do you have a rearview camera? I installed one, and it helps to park up to the rear bumper if not much space.
While you drive on the sensors only, you still have a whole lot of space you can get into at the front or rear when the signal sounds continuous.

Part 2 of getting ready for winter.
Now the rear wheels are winter ready too.

Took the boys to the RAF museum at Tangmere. I left Meg in the van and opened the sliding window in the door. As it was hosing down with rain I opened the awning a few inches to stop rain getting in through the window.

Only the parking sensors it came with and knowing where the lights shine on the wall. The rear sensor seems to work OK main worry is the front corners. This is a new garage, our old one was too low in height for the van and the roadway far to narrow. We had the door of this one widened and higher. 2.3 x 2.7 meters now. electric door. I used to park a VW sharan in the other garage it had a few scufs on each corner.

I had to make sure I left space by the side walls to open the door but once through to garage door that is not really a problem. I can not use the sliding door from inside at present. Mechnanism has failed, not a problem till I camp next but would be nice to get out when parked close to other cars.

That is what I always do when parked close to a wall or quite close to another car: taking the sliding door.
That is yet another benefit for having a van: a sliding door.

Went to London to evacuate No 1 stepdaughter and her friend from uni before it closes for the year and before London is locked down but got a flipping puncture on the M4. Luckily we were at Membury services and luckily I’d bought a spare as Editions come with a kit. VW Assistance (ie the AA) made it look very easy. It reminded me that I need some different bolts for the steel wheel.

I was v surprised how busy the roads were. Not deserted at all. Saw none of the usual planes past Heathrow tho and Whitehall and Trafalgar Sq were eerily empty of people.

No 2 from Leicester next. Neither will be going back this year.
