What have you done with your California today?

Changed my wheels to summer mode, and had a look at my first set of brake pads at the front after 145000km.

Thoroughly cleaned the Cadac Safari, ordered a pizza stone and a flat griddle....

Not bad for that distance. Lots of travelling and no stopping?
Daily driver, 12km up, 12 down. 3x Route Napoléon from Grenoble to Gap. That is firstly 6 km 12% upwards. Then quite flat for a couple of kms, then 60 km downwards with parts of 12%. 3x Switzerland. 7x A75 Clermont-Ferrand - Béziers and back. You can tell I need to stop sometimes.

But I mostly drive defensive, so very few braking on the road.

I considered the VanEssa bags but thought the stepped design might stick out too far at the back and be a bit claustrophobic when I was sleeping.
These don’t stick out much further than the window recess.
Thanks @Damien - I had been focusing on maximizing bag capacity but you raise a good point about the balance of human space when in bed mode

Hi Damen, what is the difference between the 2 options, i.e with or without aliminium? Also how Rashid the bag to fit? Many thanks
The aluminium is a sheet of dimpled foil with stitched material surrounding the edge. It’s flexible and attaches to the hard frame on the back of the window bag with four Velcro fasteners at each corner. You have choice then about whether to attach it or not.

I asked because I have the kids in the back seat. I guess if it's just 2 people travelling it's less of a problem.

I’ve got travellers in the back too. The rear window is kind of behind you and our back shelf is also fairly stacked with bedding, so it’s not a window that’s used much for us. When we’re camping that window also looks into the airlock in our awning, which is where we keep our toilet - so another reason that the blind was always closed!!

For what it costs, I'm glad I have the option of using it. It's not the best look from the outside IMHO, but might stop items in the bags warming up quite so much if there's direct sunlight hitting the window.

Any chance of a pic of the outside please

Filled water.

Actually, filled water to test out a contraption to make filling water easier.
  1. Purchased a magnet off amazon
  2. Wrapped in felt cloth and made a covering
  3. Attached the magnet to the funnel handle
  4. Now the funnel stays in place when filling water and makes it much easier

Took the backstop out from the runner, moved the seat back as far as poss. Now have a ‘living area’ similar size to my last LWB. Still maintained a reasonable area at the back for porta potti and other essentials. Plan to sleep only upstairs as and when. Well pleased.6B2F1991-B1AB-4D88-8924-C9B93051CD51.jpeg
