What have you done with your California today?

Snap!

I’ve managed to adapt a kombi rear two seater cover to fit my westy rear bench seat.
What have you done with your rear seats do they do cali rears too?
No, they don't do the rear ones. There is a poster on here that's had some made in the grey camo, looked really good.

I'm still contemplating what to do about the rear seats. With the 3 dogs and me with adhd, things get very messy!

Dog mode kurgo seat cover which is reversible, 2nd pic is human mode the string for base hooks over head rests. Worth measuring cali bench to see if it’s much bigger than kombi, if it is then turtle covers sell just the material

Ta for that. Very helpful.

The kombi seat covers definitely don't fit as I had a T6 kombi before. The front seats are bigger too, so the new covers are Caravelle ones.

Tried to visit Lysebotn in Norway. Road closed due to snow, an avalanche and waterfall that has moved. Oh well, next time.

We’ve just dropped our Ocean off at Mid England Retrims near Tamworth. Ade will make up and fit new leather seats for us in green and white to match the two tone paint.
It took a while but we managed to find the exact green shade to match the Cali.
Ade sews his own leather so we could have any design we like, we designed it this way.

Wrapped the awning today in a grey color (I had some meters left, because I wrappes my motorcycle last year).
No conpletely finished yet, but because of the rain and an upcoming trip to the UK the next 2 months I'm satisfied with the result.

Used it to tow a caravan though Norfolk and Suffolk. Despite waving at 2 California vans no one waved at us. Does towing a caravan make us” persona non grata”? I get waved at without the caravan.

Refitted my solar panel, in time for camperjam. The last panel failed last year so bought a replacement to fit on top. A bit of soldering and we are up and running. It's only taken the best of a year to sort. Just need to get round to fitting the new leisure battery.
Pic is while I tidy up the wires. IMG_20220527_111411.jpg

Hi,

Where did you buy this beautiful wrap of the dog on your sliding door?

Regards from Amsterdam,

Marc.

A week walking around Keswick area, then down to London for the Cup Final then yesterday drove back up to Galloway for a week. Cali is a fab vehicle for commuting distances in comfort, averaged constant 39mpg, well pleased.

I have a vango air awning but find it very difficult to put up by myself. I really only need a storage area for my bike and washing up things to give space in the van. Is the Cinch tent easy to put up and down by one person? I am only 5ft tall and have short arms.

In all honesty, it is very easy to put up but more difficult to take down. Requires a technique that you get the hang of and a bit of brute strength. I absolutely love ours but given your concerns I’m not sure you will like it. If you’ve used pop up tents before then you will get the idea.

Easy for one to put up, but easier for two to put down

The opposite to the Vango, it needs 2 to put up but I can put it down by myself, even if folding is fun and I can not get it back in the bag. For now I think I will stick to either using the wind out only when by myself or getting my husband to come for first night to put up awning for me. My bike can stay out in the rain. I have never used a pop up so maybe I need to try some before buying. Thanks for comments.

Taking it down. The tricky bit

Interim service and cambelt change - don’t expect there are many transporters having a cambelt done after 7k miles but I can forget about it now for 4 yrs…

Really impressive that this is something you can do yourself. I would love to do this, but I'd be to afraid to mess it up. Yours looks really nice, just as if it was factory made in that colour. Well done! Mooi gedaan!

I am similar height to you, I find it simple to put up by one person, to take down by one person isn’t difficult it just needs a bit of practice. It was a bit of a struggle the first couple of times taking it down so I was glad I was practicing in the garden. After I dId it a few times each time it became easier, once you get the taking down sequence clearly in your head it takes very little time.
Much prefer it to an awning.
