Countdown 5 Begins

Weather lousy so time to prepare for my 5th Trip to Scandinavia.
Ferry booked Harwich to Hook of Holland + Flexi Return
Night crossing over and daytime return.
Also booked last nights campsite as it is popular, an hour from the ferry and has a good bar/restaurant for my last night.
Just Insurance and some paper money to sort out as some of the small campsites in Sweden & Norway ask you to leave the site fee in an envelope.

1. Passport ☆
2. Car + Insurance Documents ☆
3. Travel Insurance Van + Medical ☆
4. Ferry return Harwich - Hook of Holland ☆
5. Foreign Currency Euro + Danish + Sweden + Norway. Have had situations where only cash or card machine not working. Just fill up with diesel before leaving country using cash.☆
6. Van tyres 5mm +/- 0.3 mm all round ☆
7. Gas on newish 907 full 904 ☆

Van fluids to do.
Clothes
Food and cans, gin + tonic etc week before.

Yes we tend to go overnight.

I’ve done both and definitely prefer Harwich to Hook of Holland. Certainly easier for Scandinavia and Germany, Poland , Austria.

that's the same way we go, but last times we went the Harwich to Esjberg ferry still ran. Sadly no more
have a great trip WelshGas. We plan on taking the Cali there in a couple of years (2027)

I go alone as my wife enjoys fine art and art history. She has a number of courses/visits lined up in my absence. I enjoy driving especially in Scandinavia pre-season. Don't think it would be the same at the height of the summer holiday season.

I have wanted to do Denmark in particular for the last few years but not got there yet. Apart from Copenhagen I would really like to have a look around North Denmark, looks like some stunning scenery around there.

Paul, if you plan to take the Lyseveien up to the Kjerag cafe, make sure you follow all of Lyseveien and Suleskardveien east, right down to Setesdalen. Beautiful drive!
