Countdown 3 - Begins. Scandinavia 2019

Tonight in a wood next to a lake. These minor roads in Norway are an absolute dream to drive, a drivers paradise. I love it.

Well I’ve plotted my route homeward bound, about 1400 miles to the Hook of Holland. Sweden Saturday, Denmark on Sunday, Germany Monday and then Holland on Tuesday and ferry on Wednesday.

You’ve had a good holiday WG
Thoroughly enjoyed it. I think next time I’ll drive up through Norway to Nordkapp and down through Sweden, a variation of my first trip.:thumb:thumb

River view tonight and tomorrow I turn Southwards heading home.
I took the ferry from Moss coming over but taking the Tunnel just North of Moss on the way back.

Shows you how accurate a Google Maps is. I’m where the Red marker is, definitely.

I’ve been doing some calculations regarding fuel consumption.
Miles covered = 2748
Fuel used = 401.14L
Using Brim to Brim refuelling = 31.14mpg

MFD fuel consumption gives 32.7mpg.

Now the difference over the miles covered equates to 19L. Which as I have been using the Diesel Parking Heater every night gives an approximate fuel consumption of the Heater of 0.113L/hr running time.

In conclusion my MFD doesn’t seem to be that inaccurate.

I looked at my trip 2 display the other week and it was
showing 9.2L/100kms over 2900kms meaning- 30.7 mpg
not bad considering.

My last two readings were:
MFD 29.4 mpg
Brim 29.22 mpg
and,
MFD 31.07 mpg
Brim 30.26 mpg

Usually my MFD over reads by 10-15%, but maybe that is caused by the large amount of urban driving I usually do.

Or it could be the DPF regenerations if the MFD calculation doesn’t take account of the extra fuel used. It does appear the T6 has more frequent regenerations.

Anyway, my calculations will be complete when I return home and fill up at the same garage and the same pump just in case there has been any variation in the Shut Off Nozzle pressures.

Well turned the corner and homeward bound.
Nice little campsite on the coast with its own little inlet with a beach and a pontoon . When I got to Reception there was a large sign “ We are unable to take Motorhomes “ in 3 languages. The young man came out of Reception and said in perfect English “ It’s OK it doesn’t apply to Campervans “. He said they had so many problems with big Motorhomes they decided to stop them this year. Anyway pitched up and about to partake of my pre-dinner G&T.

Well we now have gales and horizontal rain this morning. The rain seems to have stopped but still windy. Now South of Gothenburg near the coast. Large campsite, very well set out and excellent facilities, ideal for families wanting a beach side holiday, but no one attempting it today.

Thank you for the report. It shows you don’t need to go up to the top north to have a great experience.

1 Are you mostly sleeping on top bed even while self?
2 You are connecting the hookup even though you have solar.

1. We never sleep up top. That’s for the grandchildren.
2. It looks like I have a problem with with the Leisure Batteries. They charge fine , all the numbers look good, but after about 6 hrs of just the fridge and lights the voltage drops precipitously and the fridge/heater cut out. Probably a damaged cell. So they will be changed when I get home.

P.S. I live in a Bungalow. Haven’t been upstairs to bed, at home, for the past 35 years.

Ferry tomorrow from the Hook of Holland to Harwich.

Sounds like you have had a great trip, don’t forget to stock up at a ‘Jumbo’ prior to leaving the Netherlands.

Halmstad is always nice. I hope you had time to go up to Galgberget (Gallow hill) as it's a good viewpoint over the city and a lovely place to walk around in the forest.

Thanks all for your comments and advice. Have fun on your adventures and let the Forum know what you get up to.

The End

Countdown 4 in 2021, unless I get the nod to go next year.
