I own a -25 Grand california 600 . And it would be a question of charging the batteries. The question may already have an answer in some forum discussion, but I couldn't find one right away.

So do both, the fun and the car battery, charge when I connect the main power supply? I have asked the dealership, and I have received two completely opposite answers, so I would like to ask the community for help with the problem..

Yes, on electrical hookup, both the leisure battery AND the starter battery are charged. I believe in the MY25 GC there was an early issue with the EHU charger not charging the starter battery but this was resolved by VW.

Thanks for the answer, I think the system should work exactly as you described.

In that case, there is something wrong with my car, so I need to go to Volkswagen service to discuss the problem. Hopefully I can easily get it under warranty, so I don't have to start arguing about something obvious.

There have been a number of posts on this across various forums. Here is what Grok says about it when asked to identify the TPI -

“The TPI (Technical Product Information) for the issue where the mains charger (shore power/hook-up) does not properly charge the starter battery in the 2025 model year Volkswagen Grand California is TPI 2078498/1.

This TPI addresses the specific problem: “In vehicles from model year 2025 onwards, the starter battery may not be charged via the shore power as intended.” It describes the error pattern (starter battery remains uncharged or inadequately charged when connected to mains) and outlines the official Volkswagen repair procedure, which typically involves a software update or control module reconfiguration performed by an authorized dealer.

For the full details and repair instructions, contact a Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles dealer, as TPIs are internal service documents accessible via their systems (e.g., ERWIN portal). This is a known issue specific to the 2025 MY Grand California (based on the Crafter platform).”

Thanks again, now I have something to present when I go to an authorized service center.

The Grand California is such a rare car in Finland that when it comes to service, people don't know where to start looking for a problem.
