Very good point!!A couple of other thoughts.
Ascot Grey won't show the dirt as much as red, neither will minor scratches like bush marks.

Thanks for your comment. Indeed: we obviously did not start with a colour that we did not like at all and now that we see the red, a certain doubt returns but reason tells us that 8 months ago we thought carefully to change the colour to ascot grey.We placed our order at Christmas. Like you it was a choice of ascot grey or the red.
The vehicle the dealer had for us to view was the cherry red.
Now I'm not a big fan of the red, my husband is, but wow did I like it.
We ended up ordering the grey with thoughts of adding bits of red.
However, as the red was my 2nd choice, if the dealer called today and said it had arrived but in red I'd be fine with it. It was after all a decision between the 2 colours, so it's not like I don't like the red colour.
There are lots of grey ones here and I haven't seen 1 red one drive around yet so if I saw a red 1 I'd be quite excited.
California Chris on YouTube has done a coast video using the red one we saw and I love it each time.
As it was a colour you chose at the beginning, then you obviously like it. So if it was me I'd be fine with taking it but want a few free services thrown in too.
But they are alot of money and if your not happy then don't have it and wait for what you do want. You have your t4 if you want to travel.
At the end of the day, only you can decide what's right for you.
Don't think it excludes stealth camping; friends of mine have a techno blue T4cali and sleep everywhere - even on Trocadero under the Eifel tower!Depends if you want to stealth camp, if you do then red is probably not the one! We always stay on campsites so no difference for us.
Mind you ours is silver and I quite like the understated elegance!
indeed, this was one of the reasons we changed the colour to ascot greyVery good point!!
Very nice pictures and ascot grey is not so striking, true but for me not boring: it is rather bright, and it has a curious sparkle despite being a standard paint.I've driven boring grey company cars for 27 years, and it's all you see on the road these days... So why not stand out and show off some fun? We went for bright colours with our beloved cali's

Thanks for your reaction; undertated elegance is well said of you and ascot grey can also fit that description.Depends if you want to stealth camp, if you do then red is probably not the one! We always stay on campsites so no difference for us.

Thanks for the reaction, in fact, I do have quite a few multicolored shirts and wear them regularly in my spare time (for work, I walk in uniform). I think I'm more of a blending person, but others don't think so. Anyway, I think ascot grey is a more neutral colour -certainly more than cherry red- but also sparkling. I already saw some californias in that colour but it stays difficult for me.De gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum,... But color is character, and so yes, is it you? I imagine in these carparks it brings a wow factor, the star of the show.
But would you feel like a loud tourist when you walk towards it in an old little scenic town or more proud? Would you feel it taking too much attraction when camping in the middle of a natural setting, or more like a complement, man versus nature?
Surely you have some favorite spicy, colorful shirts that you like to wear for festive events. Do you have lots of them?
In general,
do you blend, or do you shine, that must be the question.
Just my 2p, I’ll admit I’m biased as iv got an Ascot grey on order. Hopefully....Thanks for the reaction, in fact, I do have quite a few multicolored shirts and wear them regularly in my spare time (for work, I walk in uniform). I will soon make my choice although I already made it 8 months ago. It was not expected that there is now a cherry red coast.
What a beautiful california! Makes choosing a bit more difficult ...I switched to red from Ascot Grey at the last minute and I will now add black wheels and a black pack to my Coast 6.1 as it looks better dechromed
The Ascot grey looks fabulous dirty but looked a teeny bit low budget rental van, I also think the grey is a bit trendy at the moment and will age badly. Plus red safer (flat grey almost invisible in fog) and our six year old loves red. And fire engines.

Additionally: who cares what others think when they see a red van. But when you look at it from outside , there's no question it looks nice. With black contrasts you can do whatever you want.If we have learned anything in the last 12 months. Life is precious and short. Live the dream before life becomes one.
Ask yourself, when you are sat in the Cali, looking at the view, does it really matter what colour it is on the outside!!
...and I know most of them would be looking at it with happy thoughts! A red VW bus just does that somehow.Additionally: who cares what others think when they see a red van. But when you look at it from outside , there's no question it looks nice. With black contrasts you can do whatever you want.
Yes it will stand out park among other cars, 90% of which are black, white and all gradations of grey. People will notice it..... and then continue go about their own business. It will make no difference.
