Hello, I love to listen to cool music when I'm in the wild, unfortunately the system shut it down after30 minutes. Is there a way to change this "strange" setting? Thanks for your replies.
Gone are the old days of a simple radio/cassette player. Modern day In Car Entertainment ( ICE ) systems are more like a home Computer and quit power hungry. Hence the cut-off if the engine is not running.Hello, I love to listen to cool music when I'm in the wild, unfortunately the system shut it down after30 minutes. It could, but the California is based on a " Van " base with the camping side of things added. The ICE system is tied into many " vehicle " systems and it probably is not worth the extra to change the wiring for what is a relatively small number of Californias. Thanks I agree this is pertinent, however, the audio could have been connected to the auxiliary batteries, couldn't it?
A small decent quality bluetooth speaker would work well with the music on your phone and can be used at home/garden as well. I would prefer that to messing with the radio power supplies.![]()
Getting it rewired to your leisure battery is a good plan although I thikn the computer will still turn it off after 30 minutes without some recoding? Is the recoding even possible?
I use a bluetooth speaker too these days.
Trouble with keep on switching it back sooner or later you will flaten the battery. Thanks for your kind replies.. I like the idea of a BT device, but I also like the idea of pushing back the button while I get an other great beer... I love the Leffe Dark and the Jupiler.... Again thanks to all of you.
Also are the USBs all from the leisure battery ? I suspect the dashboard ones may be from the car ( engine ) battery does anyone know ?
On the T5 (at least on mine) the 12v socket in the dash ashtray is off the engine battery. The one on top of the dash is off the leisure battery.I am told that every thing in front of the B post is off the engine battery including the USBs in dash. So you lose them when the engine is off. Also the battery management system "protects" the engine battery hence shutdown of the music system.
I can't believe anyone when buying a Cali would, if given the choice, spec having the stereo fed from the engine battery/30 cut off, so I wonder what rationale VW used when drawing up the wiring diagram?Morning all
I paid €18,000 for the Dynaudio sound system and I assumed, wrongly, that the stereo would work off the leisure batteries.
That was the whole reason for buying as an option.
I’m still very disappointed and annoyed at this and the fact that I have to use a aftermarket speaker to listen to music when I already have a €1,800 sound system fitted....
it’s nonsence and should have been explained when I was ordering the Cali....
I presume an aftermarket system?Absolute Audio in Amesbury set my new radio up with a switch inside the glovebox, so you could flick it over to the leisure batteries when camping. Works brilliantly.
Do know what they did to disable the CANbus switch-off?Absolute Audio in Amesbury set my new radio up with a switch inside the glovebox, so you could flick it over to the leisure batteries when camping. Works brilliantly.
