Second hand prices

That is not exactly a fair comparison, is it?
In that case, my 2011 mini should be with 20 grand.
Mini on the market for £34,950 :)

When the Mini was launched in 1959 (an, ahem, 'important' year for me :embarrased) it cost £500. Today after 61 years of UK inflation that would be £9,600, not £35k.

Damn those greedy second hand sellers, eh?

Brand new MK1 available now. :Stig
Interesting thanks, I'd heard those were out now. But TBH I lost interest at "launch and traction control systems". You won't get many brownie points for those on Epynt.

I'll stick with my 1963 Alfa, as good as an Escort on the loose. (Or it was until I cracked the sump on Catterick training area on Friday :headbang ).

Are you happy with your Gr Yaris?
Yes, although with all the driver aids it's never going to be as fun as the old 'uns. You'd have to drive it stupidly fast to make it dance around much on a dry road, the grip is astonishing. Looking forward more to driving it over this winter. And it does make a nice noise.

When I moved to London to study, an older lad in halls had a pimped alfasud. Only one allowed in the back or the bodywork scraped the tyre. Until then I’d only driven a diesel 205 and a Saab 900. He threw me the keys to drive to Portsmouth one day and I can still say I’ve never had more fun in a car. It felt planted in rails, and sounded glorious…

I only drove a Sud once, but back in the day they were certainly renowned as one of the best small cars dynamically. The trouble was they were made of comedy metal. My Giulia Sprint from the 1960s pre-dated that appalling Russian-made steel, although even at the Portello factory they often left the inside of panels unpainted.
