What do you folks think about the new vehicle tax rules coming into force

Thats prompted me to go and find out what the new tax rules are...

I think when you buy a used vehicle the tax didn't get carried forward you will need to re tax it as soon as you buy it. No insentive to buy a car that has months of tax left.
You can also pay by direct dedit :smile

It would have been good if there was some saving to the motorist in abandoning the paper disc which must have cost a small fortune to manage.
But there does not seem to be any savings.

Next step National congestion charge I think.

Abandoning the paper disc is a good idea. They are a throwback to an earlier age. The whole chaos surrounding them is grossly inefficient, and I dare say that thousands of folk have been broken into over the years by folk stealing this silly bit of paper

The paper tv licence/ trips to post office/ detector vans also needs to become part of history too

Beware Granny Jen. Once there is no tax disc stuck to your windscreen then they will make it illegal to have 'Anything' stuck to the front windscreen. Actually I think it's already seen as wrong to clutter the windscreen with badges etc, which might impair your vision threw it. However at the moment we still have the excuse that if the government say you have to display a tax disc then what does another badge matter.
Glad to see you use Britstops.

Taxed my Cali for £225. Put the disc in my bag and forgot it was there. Opened the bag after getting out of the Cali to see my Tax Disc fly in the wind over the A1 and far far away! Took me two hours, 4 Post Offices and £7 for a duplicate :crazy

Liverpool humour on TV the other night

Police pull over driver for speeding and notice he has a dog on the front seat. He's hitting the dog on the nose. The policeman says I'm going to do you for speeding and ill treating a dog.

The scouser replies "you would hit it on the nose if it had done to you what it's done to me!

The policeman says well what it's done.....

Scouser replies " it's just eaten my tax disk!"

Speaking to a bloke the other day, he said he's heard police in Spain are pulling over UK vehicles for failure to display tax disc! Does anyone know if this is correct?
