The New All electric California due in Autumn 2019. What are you thoughts?

Can’t believe how negative the general public are about electric car progress.

We’re lucky that we have leaders that are willing to push the boundaries and not listen to the status quo. If all they thought about were potential issues we’d get nowhere.

Leaders? How many Electric vehicles does the Government own and run? Or a little closer to home - your local council, or the NHS?

Think Elon Musk not Theresa May.
Oh, the one appearing in court shortly regarding comments made about one of the rescuers involved in the Thailand cave rescue.

For all Elon Musk has achieved with Space X and Tesla, people would rather post about some comments he made which he's also said he's happy to go to court about.

Honestly, this thread and the whole TSLAQ movement is so sad, what's wrong with people?

He is doing a lot, but should learn a little anger management, but until Governments lead by example as well as other public bodies then sales of E cars will be to the minority and not the masses. They speak fine words but their actions don’t match.

Example. Passed a Norwegian Town Hall equivalent. In the car park, every bay had an Electric Charging Point, and they were in use.
So if the local council did the same and provided cheap charging and Stopped paying travel expenses to council employees who claim them, then this would be an encouragement. As it is they pay travel expenses and buy another Jag for the Mayor.
Exactly the same as Central Government. Not even the Minister for the Environment has an Electric Ministerial Car.

Slight irony in the electrification of Norway given the oil money eh? I find the Norwegian Sovereign wealth fund from North Sea oil a tragic reminder of our short termism in politics - not sure what we have to show?

Sadly not “thinking about the potential issues” by our leaders led them to push us all to buy evil diesels!

You got a nice lavish funeral for Thatcher!

Norway’s model is huge taxes on older cars and massive subsidies for new electrics.

I have some sympathy with the yellow jacket protests in France.

Ordinary folk who can only afford an old knackered car are paying for the rich, so they can feel smug and preach to them on ‘climate change’ from the comfort of their subsidised Teslas

Interesting video about living with an electric car for a week

I had to stop watching. He was moaning too much about it not being
charged.
He knew he didn't have a 7kw charger at home so why not just keep it plugged in as
soon as the car arrived, also he could have plugged it in when he was doing that porn shoot.

He couldn't even plug it in properly and that's why it didn't charge.
The boys a chancer.

He did appear a bit incompetent.

I see the benefits of an electric car, as things stand, primarily for urban use. Now we are living at home in London we use our van an awful lot for shortish journeys, many under 10 miles. An electric car would suit us very well as a second car. The problem is that they are sooo expensive. Even when you look at it as if you are paying for your fuel costs up front. The e-up!, for example, is at least £10,000 more expensive than an equivalent petrol model. Even if the average price of petrol over the next ten years was £1.50 per litre and electricity free you'd have to be doing something like 7,500 miles per year for ten years before your investment turns a profit. That's a lot of miles for a second car - and relies on the battery lasting that long!.

Like you say, urban use, for a wider range it has to be Hybrid for me.
There are some good tax breaks at the moment for both, loads of chargers
appearing and parking is free whilst charging.
Defo worth looking into.

Trying to buy an Electric Smart Car for my wife. Due for release in October 2019. Present Smart car production using fossil fuels has stopped. Mercedes have now informed me that orders are not being taken in the forseable future, possibly upto a year, because of Battery problems and longterm manufacturing problems relating to the batteries.
Fossil fuels will be around a lot longer than the Politicians and tree huggers think.
