What have you done with your California today?

You might Disagree @BeagleMum , but they do. Whenever someone mentions , as in this case , moving a student into accommodation with an Ocean, we get the usual posts " oh, but the Beach is so much more flexible, blah de blah."
Why can't Beach Owners just accept not everyone wants a MPV with a pop top and a standalone awning.
I absolutely accept that not everyone wants a Beach, but you seem to be very insecure whenever they are mentioned. You can’t seem to accept that some of us much prefer a Beach to an Ocean. You always try to get a rise out of people and cause ill feeling, frankly it’s past being entertaining and is now predictable. For a man of your intelligence, who on other occasions can be very helpful to people, to be so obsessed with this subject is baffling to me.

Yes the SE/Ocean is the best for me. I have never suggested otherwise, unlike many Beach owners who go on and on about how flexible etc etc. For many SE/Ocean owners the vehicle does everything they want 365 days of the year and if I want to move house I would hire a van and if 7 want to go on a trip a minibus.

Wow. The top 5 Cali paranoia thread is infecting others. Must update the list of symptoms to include how contagious it is. Vaccine needed.

I rest my case.
A simple statement that the Ocean can also be flexible when moving a student into University accommodation , with no mention of any other vehicle, and the comments begin from a certain group.

If that’s not Insecurity then I don’t know what is.

I didn’t mention any other vehicle, did not compare the Ocean to any other vehicle, just a simple statement that the Ocean can be flexible by moving the rear seat forward and removing the rear shelf.

I guess what I want to say/point out: Whatever vehicle you have do whatever you want/do it now

Whipped the NSR coilover off and adjusted the height. Trying to do it insitu = impossible. I measured the van last week after having the Bilsteins B14 put on and the NSR was about 15mm lower:headbang.

Happy to report my adjustment has resulted in a 1 to 2mm difference across the rear. .

I bought some second hand Amarok wheels. Got them from an ambulance builder so they are practically new. Decided to try Plasti dip on them:

First coats of paint, matte black.

Will most likely get General AT3 tires to use year arround, a bit worried for our trips to the north but have been running stud free winter tires all the time.

Love Plastidip! Nice wheels too (17 or 18”?)

Top dip tip - if you get a run, tear or other imperfection (like when the tyre fitters are let loose on those), you can use a cotton bud soaked in thinner to smooth out the dodgy bit then spray back over it.

They are 18” Manaus. Thanks for that tip, I will most likely need it.

Is that one of those steering wheel spinner things bus drivers use to turn the wheel multiple times without gloves?
it is
I initially tried a cheap Halfords one to see if it was a worthwhile addition .... and having satisfied myself that it was a genuinely useful accessory, I purchased this one from Amazon
It certainly makes manoeuvring simpler

Mounted my new wheels. Rim from Amarok so it stands out a bit more. Fitted General AT3 tires in 235/55 18 so a bit larger. Speedo shows 2-3% less than gps speed.

They look great!
I should probably mention (just in case)- Plastidip can act as a barrier between nut tightening against the wheel, causing the nut to loosen if the Dip peels where the lug nut contacts the wheel.

If you haven’t already, best to wipe or peel any dip off the lug nut recesses. They came loose on my Touareg - fortunately I noticed before anything fell off

Thanks for the tip, I usually tighten them a few days after I switch wheels two times a year.

Whilst there, on the walk to the Iron Age Fort, we saw some red squirrels which was a treat (don’t have them in the Chilterns).
You might not have red squirrels, but you do have loads of red kites, which are more visible than squirrels, and just stunning to watch.

The Red Kites are becoming a bit of nuisance, We have a pair nesting in a tree at the bottom of our garden & they have either killed or scared off a lot of the smaller birds.
Seriously impressive when they are swooping around at low level, they are enormous.
We also have black squirrels, they are an aggressive mutation of the greys & taking over slowly.

We do, and enjoyable watching them, but a bit too many really.
