Brits travelling in France must carry an attestation which states they are travelling to their main residence ie home. Anyone trying to flout the law will be fined on the spot. Anyway all campsites and hotels will be closed. You should also think seriously about not travelling in the UK. Govt policy will probably be in place locking down all but essential travel by then anyway. Stay at home.
Just returned from France
Wasn't easy as booked for return Friday morning (20th) and got an email Thursday from Brittany Ferries saying all sailings cancelled until at least mid April.
I had a previous headsup from my Daughter on late Tuesday evening saying that they were stopping sailing from the 19th inclusive, nothing to me as a passenger directly. Did a quick phone call and got told no space for your vehicle and then got cut off. Recalled and told to contact again after 9am the next day when office open.
Online attempt to rebook failed with a message to call a prime number. 102 attempts made only get engaged each time.
My wife made nearly 300 attempts to get through on the number given for Customer Services, got through 3 times but cut off an the press button option process. Got through on a fourth time and got put on Muzak for 32 mins when finally put through apparently the operator couldn't hear me and hung up also prime number. Over 3 hours passed by then so went online to search for an alternative and managed to book with DFDS Dieppe Friday 6pm.
Return trip was not very pleasant as all onboard catering was closed as was the shop. We had expected to eat onboard so not prepared. Most passengers trying to keep segregated in the spaces not roped out of bounds. No cabins in use due to Covid-19.
Surprising number of Great Whites returning.
France was strange with total closure of everything other than food outlets. Only safe point for fuel being on Motorways as Garages and their forecourts closed. Only freight on the roads.
A taste of what's coming here. Don't underestimate the impact or make light of it.
Now in self quarantine.
